O Lord, a servant has stretched out

The palm of supplication when he fell.

So, if error is counted against him—

Who is it that has never done wrong?

    And who has goodness alone?

In You I ever seek refuge

    From Your overpowering chastisement.

And by Ta-Ha's rank I am nourished—

    Muhammad, the guide, the one

    Upon whom Gabriel descended.

With Your pleasure I ward off wrath,

And my many sins are beyond reckoning.

If Your servant has indeed fallen,

    Who has never done wrong?

    And who has goodness alone?

Excellent is he of noble origin,

Endowed with protection from sin, unbreached.

You purified him of all this—

    Muhammad, the guide, the one

    Upon whom Gabriel descended.
