أيها الجاهل الذي ليس يدري
ماwhat يلاقيهhe encounters it بكرةin the morning وأصيلاand in the evening
ما يلاقيه بكرة وأصيلا
O ignorant one who does not know
O ignorant one who does not know
What he encounters morning and evening!
What he will encounter tomorrow and in the evening
كلماwhenever ازادادhe gains more منfrom سوىother than اللهGod علماًknowledge
كلما ازاداد من سوى الله علماً
زادincreases شيطانهhis devil لهfor him تسويلاenticement
زاد شيطانه له تسويلا
The more he gains knowledge from other than God,
The more he gains knowledge from other than God
The more his devil beguiles him.
The more his demons make mischief for him
لاdo not تغرنكdeceive you الظواهرappearances واتركand leave
لا تغرنك الظواهر واترك
عنكaway from you قالاًgossip بهby it فُتِنتَyou were beguiled وقيلاand hearsay
عنك قالاً به فُتِنتَ وقيلا
Do not let appearances deceive you, and put aside
Do not be deceived by appearances and leave
The gossip and hearsay that have beguiled you.
The sayings by which you were tempted and misled
وتأملand contemplate فيon كلevery شيءthing تشاهدyou see
وتأمل في كل شيء تشاهد
كلevery شيءthing يفنىperishes قليلاlittle قليلاlittle
كل شيء يفنى قليلا قليلا
And contemplate everything you see:
And contemplate everything you behold
Everything perishes, little by little.
