ربي الذي ليس له ماهيَّهْ

ربي الذي ليس له ماهيَّهْ

وما تعينتْ له هويهْ

وما تعينتْ له هويهْ

My Lord, who has no quiddity,

My Lord who has no essence

and for whom no identity has been determined.

Nor defined identity

بل هو حق مطلق ليس له

بل هو حق مطلق ليس له

قيد بوجه لا ولا كيفيه

قيد بوجه لا ولا كيفيه

Rather, He is absolute Reality, with no

But He is the Absolute Truth without

restriction in any respect, nor any modality.

Any limitation of how or why

لأجل هذا لا مكان لا ولا

لأجل هذا لا مكان لا ولا

زمان يحويه ولا أينيه

زمان يحويه ولا أينيه

For this reason, neither place nor

For this reason, no place nor

time contains Him, nor has He any where-ness.

Time contains Him, nor location

لا تقدر العقول أن تدركه

لا تقدر العقول أن تدركه

بها ولا بالفكرة القويه

بها ولا بالفكرة القويه

The intellects cannot apprehend Him

Intellects cannot comprehend Him

by themselves, nor through powerful thought.

Through them, nor strong ideas

وهو المحيط بالبرايا كلهم

وهو المحيط بالبرايا كلهم

من كل وجه وله المعيه

من كل وجه وله المعيه

And He encompasses all created beings,

He encompasses the wilderness entirely

in every respect, and He is with them.

From every aspect, and to Him belongs omniscience

له صفات مثله قديمة

له صفات مثله قديمة

قائمة بذاته العليه

قائمة بذاته العليه

He has attributes eternal like Him,

He has attributes like Him, eternal

subsisting in His exalted Essence.

Existing in His Sublime Self

ومثلها أسماؤه الحسنى علت

ومثلها أسماؤه الحسنى علت

وعلمه المحيط بالبريه

وعلمه المحيط بالبريه

Likewise, His Most Beautiful Names are exalted,

And like them are His Beautiful Names exalted

and His knowledge encompasses creation.

And His knowledge encompassing creation

وكل شيء هو عالم به

وكل شيء هو عالم به

وبالذي يخفيه في الطويه

وبالذي يخفيه في الطويه

And He knows everything,

And He knows everything

and what it conceals in its innermost depths.

Including what He conceals in the unknown

وكلنا نحن عبيده وقد

وكلنا نحن عبيده وقد

أكرمنا بالملة المرضيه

أكرمنا بالملة المرضيه

And we are all His servants, and He has

And we all are His servants, and He

honored us with the faith He approves.

Has honored us with the pleasing faith

أرسل فينا المصطفى نبينا

أرسل فينا المصطفى نبينا

يحكم بالشريعة المضيه

يحكم بالشريعة المضيه

He sent among us al-Mustafa, our Prophet,

He sent amongst us His Prophet

who judges by the radiant sacred law.

To rule by the upright law

يعامل الكل كما أراده

يعامل الكل كما أراده

بمقتضى ألطافه الخفيه

بمقتضى ألطافه الخفيه

He deals with all as He has willed,

He treats all as He willed

in accordance with His hidden graces.

Through His hidden kindness

خالقنا وخالقٌ أفعالنا

خالقنا وخالقٌ أفعالنا

وجاعلٌ أعمالنا بالنيه

وجاعلٌ أعمالنا بالنيه

Our Creator, and the Creator of our actions,

Our Creator and Maker of our deeds

and the One who makes our deeds depend on intention.

And Maker of our intentions through deeds

وهو إلهنا ولا نعرفه

وهو إلهنا ولا نعرفه

إلا بخلق نفسنا الزكيه

إلا بخلق نفسنا الزكيه

And He is our God, and we do not know Him

He is our God and we know Him

except through His creation of our pure soul.

Only through our pure selves

فنفسنا نعرفها بأنها

فنفسنا نعرفها بأنها

فعل له وتمت القضيه

فعل له وتمت القضيه

So we know our soul to be

For we know our selves as

an act of His—and the matter is settled.

His creation, and the matter is settled
