قلبي لعلم الإله بابُ

وماله دونه حجابُ

My heart is a door to knowing God

With no veil before Him

وكل أحوالنا تناجي

وكل إداراكنا خطاب

All our states converse

And all our perceptions address Him

وكل أرواحنا عمار

وكل أجسامنا خراب

All our spirits dwell

And all our bodies decay

وكل معقولنا كؤوس

وكل محسوسنا شراب

All our minds are cups

And all our senses drink

وكل أعدائنا سؤال

وكل أحبابنا جواب

All our enemies question us

And all our loved ones answer

وكل وقت لنا دنو

وكل حين لنا اقتراب

Every moment brings us nearer

And every instant closer

وكل شيء له إلينا

من حيث معروفنا انتساب

Everything relates to us

Through what we know of its source

وكل لفظ لنا رسول

وكل معنى لنا كتاب

Every word a messenger

And every meaning a scripture

وروحنا للسوى حسام

يخفيه من جسمنا قراب

Our spirit a sword for truth

Concealed in the scabbard of our body

ورؤية الحق جل فينا

وليس فيها لنا ارتياب

Seeing the True One clearly in us

Leaving no room for doubt

والشمس في الأفق ذات نور

وإن بدا دونها السحاب

The sun in the sky possessing light

Though clouds may shroud her face

ونحن من ربنا كلام

لنا وألفاظه العذاب

We are the speech of our Lord

His words of chastisement

ونحن قوم إذا أردنا

أرشدنا الدف والرباب

We are a people guided

By the tambour and flute

ونحن روح الجميع صرنا

وذهب الماء والتراب

We are the spirit of all

While water and dust vanish

ونحن حق ونحن خلق

ونحن قوس ونحن قاب

We are the Real and the created

We are the bow and the arrow

وكشفت وجهها سليمى

وانهتك الستر والنقاب

Sulayma has unveiled her face

Casting off cloak and veil

وراق خمر الوجود منها

ونحن من فوقه حباب

The wine of existence intoxicates us

We are the bubbles on its top

وحاصل الأمر كل شيء

غير إله الورى سراب

In short, all is mirage

Except the God of all
