يسوق إلى المنون

يسوق إلى المنون

Love for the Eye of all eyes

Love for the eye of eyes

drives one onward to death;

Leads to death.

وللوجه المصون

وللوجه المصون

ظهور في بطون

ظهور في بطون

and the guarded Face has

And the guarded face has

manifestations in hidden depths.

A manifestation within hiddenness.

بدا فشهدت دوني

بدا فشهدت دوني

تناويع الفنون

تناويع الفنون

He appeared; then, apart from myself, I witnessed

It appeared, and I beheld beneath me

the manifold varieties of the arts.

The varied forms of the arts,

وقد ثارت شجوني

وقد ثارت شجوني

سقى الوادي وحيا

سقى الوادي وحيا

And my tangled longings surged.

And my sorrows had surged.

May it water the valley and greet

May the rain water the valley and greet

رباه الودقُ ريَّا

رباه الودقُ ريَّا

فكم دارت عليا

فكم دارت عليا

its hills—the rain—with water to the full.

Its hills with a full drenching.

How often there circled around me,

For how often it circled round me—

به كاس الحميا

به كاس الحميا

وصرت به مُهَيّا

وصرت به مُهَيّا

through him, the cup of heady wine!

There, the cup of potent wine!

And through him I became prepared;

And through it I became ready;

طويت الكون طيا

طويت الكون طيا

فمن كاف لنون

فمن كاف لنون

I folded the universe completely away,

I folded up the cosmos completely,

from kāf to nūn.

Thus, from kāf to nūn.

وصلى الله ربي

وصلى الله ربي

على الداعي الملبي

على الداعي الملبي

And may God, my Lord, send blessings

And may God, my Lord, send blessings

upon the Caller who answers the call,

Upon the caller who answers the call,

على محبوب قلبي

على محبوب قلبي

على طه وحبي

على طه وحبي

upon the beloved of my heart,

Upon the beloved of my heart,

upon Taha—and my love

Upon Ṭā-Hā—and through my love

به في نيل قربي

به في نيل قربي

وآلٍ ثم صحب

وآلٍ ثم صحب

for him, in attaining my nearness.

For him I attain nearness—

And upon his Family, then his Companions—

And his family, then his companions,

بهم فتح الحصون

بهم فتح الحصون

أئمة كل حيِّ

أئمة كل حيِّ

through them the fortresses were conquered:

Through whom fortresses are opened,

leaders of every community,

Leaders of every community,

ذوي القدر السنيِّ

ذوي القدر السنيِّ

لهم عبد الغنيِّ

لهم عبد الغنيِّ

possessors of exalted rank.

Possessors of lofty rank.

To them, ʿAbd al-Ghani

To them, ʿAbd al-Ghanī

بتسليم يحيِّي

بتسليم يحيِّي

من الله العليِّ

من الله العليِّ

gives greeting with a salutation

Offers greetings of peace

from God Most High,

From God, the Most High,

على أمد العشيِّ

على أمد العشيِّ

وتقليب الشئون

وتقليب الشئون

as long as evening endures

Throughout the span of evening

and affairs keep turning.

And the changing of affairs.
