It is these motions and states of rest;

These are the movements and the pauses

the celestial sphere brings them forth, and is itself an essence—

Brought by the sphere which is the essence

كرة تدور على تحقق علمها

بالله كشفاً والعقول صفات

بالله كشفاً والعقول صفات

a globe revolving upon the realization of its knowledge

A sphere revolving with the knowledge

of God through unveiling; the intellects are attributes.

Of God, unveiled and reasons witnessed

هي وحدة في كثرة هي كثرةٌ

في وحدة تتلى بها الآيات

في وحدة تتلى بها الآيات

It is unity in multiplicity; it is multiplicity

It is unity in plurality, plurality

in unity; through it the verses are recited.

In unity, with it verses recited

وحقيقة فيها الحقائق كلها

وحقيقة فيها الحقائق كلها

أضدادها جمعٌ بها وشتات

أضدادها جمعٌ بها وشتات

And a reality within which are all realities;

And the truth of all truths within it

within it, its opposites are union and dispersion.

Its opposites gathered and scattered

قلم إلهي ولوح لم يزل

قلم إلهي ولوح لم يزل

بالخلق فيه المحو والإثبات

بالخلق فيه المحو والإثبات

A divine pen and a tablet; there have always been

A divine pen and an eternal tablet

within it, in creation, erasure and affirmation.

With creation, erasure and affirmation

تفنى بأجمعها وترجع عمرها

تفنى بأجمعها وترجع عمرها

مائة مكملة هي السنوات

مائة مكملة هي السنوات

It perishes in its entirety and returns; its lifespan

Vanishing in its entirety and its age renewed

is a full hundred years.

One hundred completed, the years passed

كالطفل تنشأ بالخلائق جملة

كالطفل تنشأ بالخلائق جملة

وتعود نسخاً فيه تغليظات

وتعود نسخاً فيه تغليظات

Like a child, it arises with all creatures together,

Like a child, through beings entirely born

and returns as a copy containing intensifications.

And returning as copies with maturations

وشبابها مثل الشباب فرونق

وشبابها مثل الشباب فرونق

غض وأيام بها شهوات

غض وأيام بها شهوات

And its youth is like youth: a radiance

Its youth is like the youth, so splendid

fresh, and days filled with desires.

Raw and days within it, desires

لا تنكروا تقديمها الصبيان وال

لا تنكروا تقديمها الصبيان وال

تأخير للأشياخ وهي فتاة

تأخير للأشياخ وهي فتاة

Do not deny its putting the boys first and

Do not deny its precedence of boys, nor

holding the elders back while it is a maiden.

Delay for elders, while it is a maiden

حتى إذا كهلت رأيت كهولها

حتى إذا كهلت رأيت كهولها

تحيى وصبيان الحمى أموات

تحيى وصبيان الحمى أموات

Until, when it reaches middle age, you see its middle-aged men

Until when aged, you see its aging

come alive, while the boys of the sanctuary are dead.

Reviving, and fiery youths are dead

وإذا بنا شاخت فإن شيوخنا

وإذا بنا شاخت فإن شيوخنا

تعلو وتظهر والكهول رفات

تعلو وتظهر والكهول رفات

And when it grows old among us, then our elders

And if with us grown old, our elders

rise and emerge, while the middle-aged are crumbling remains.

Rise and appear, the matured, ruins

أبدا كذلك كلما كانت لها

أبدا كذلك كلما كانت لها

مائة السنين فإنها النشآت

مائة السنين فإنها النشآت

Forever thus: each time it reaches

Always thus, whenever its century

a hundred years, these are the new creations.

Of years is complete, it is rebirth

هي نشأة من بعد أخرى مثلها

حتى تتم أولئك الحركات

It is one creation after another like it,

A rebirth after another like it

until those motions reach completion.

Until those movements are complete

ويعود أمر الغيب للبدء الذي

عنه بدا وتسرمد الحالات

And the affair of the unseen returns to the beginning

And the command of the unseen returns

from which it appeared, and the states become eternal.

To the beginning from which it started, situations eternal

لتحققوا بمقالنا وتبينوا

تجدوا الشموس وتكشف الظلمات

تجدوا الشموس وتكشف الظلمات

Attain certainty through our discourse, and discern;

So realize from our words, and see

you will find the suns, and the darkness will be dispelled.

You find the suns, and darkness uncovered
