إن تشأ قل أنا وإن شئتَ قل هو

إن تشأ قل أنا وإن شئتَ قل هو

وكذا إن تشأ فقل أنت تزهو

وكذا إن تشأ فقل أنت تزهو

If you wish, say 'I'; and if you wish, say 'He.'

If you wish, say "I", and if you want, say "He"

And likewise, if you wish, say 'You'—you will shine.

And likewise, if you wish, say "You" exult

كلهم واحد وجود حقيقيْ

كلهم واحد وجود حقيقيْ

أحدٌ والذي يرى الغير يلهو

أحدٌ والذي يرى الغير يلهو

All of them are one, a true existence,

They are all one, a real existence

uniquely One; whoever sees another is at play.

The One, and the one who sees others frolic

وكذا قل هما وإن شئت قل هم

وكذا قل هما وإن شئت قل هم

وإذا شئت هنَّ قل ليس تسهو

وإذا شئت هنَّ قل ليس تسهو

And likewise, say 'they two'; and if you wish, say 'they' (masculine).

And so say "both", and if you want say "they"

And if you wish, say 'they' (feminine)—you do not err.

And if you want, say "they" do not hurry

كل هذا به يشار إلى من

كل هذا به يشار إلى من

هو في الغيب ما لنا عنه لَهْوُ

هو في الغيب ما لنا عنه لَهْوُ

Through all this, reference is made to the One

All this refers to the One

who is in the unseen; we have no distraction from Him.

Who is unseen, we have no distraction from Him

بحر نور وبحر ظلمة كون

بحر نور وبحر ظلمة كون

عند من يعرف الحقيقة رَهْوُ

عند من يعرف الحقيقة رَهْوُ

A sea of light and a sea of the darkness of created being

An ocean of light and an ocean of darkness of existence

are still to whoever knows reality.

For those who know the truth, calm

عدم وهو باطل ووجود

عدم وهو باطل ووجود

هو حق بدا فقل عنه يا هو

هو حق بدا فقل عنه يا هو

Nonexistence is falsehood, while existence

Nonexistence which is false, and existence

is Truth made manifest; so say of Him, 'O He!'

Which is truth appeared, so say "O He" of Him
