I saw the shadow play as the greatest lesson;

I saw the shadow's phantom grow immense

through it, the meaning of perfection shines before my eyes.

Portending meanings of perfection for my gaze

وفي كل موجود على الحق آية

وفي كل موجود على الحق آية

لمن هو في علم الحقيقة راقي

لمن هو في علم الحقيقة راقي

And in every existing thing is a sign of the Real,

In everything existent is a sign of truth

for one advanced in the knowledge of reality.

For one exalted in the science of reality

شخوص وأشباح تمر وتنقضي

شخوص وأشباح تمر وتنقضي

وليس لها مما قضى الله من واقي

وليس لها مما قضى الله من واقي

Figures and phantoms pass and come to an end,

Figures and specters pass and fade away

and they have no protector against what God has decreed.

With no defense against God's destiny

لها حركات ثم يبدو سكونها

لها حركات ثم يبدو سكونها

وتفني جميعاً والمحرك باقي

وتفني جميعاً والمحرك باقي

They have movements, then their stillness appears,

They move and then their stillness is displayed

and all perish, while the mover remains.

All perish save the Prime Mover who stays
