I am other than the One I love, and I am

His very self if I am wholly annihilated.

    بي أشارت صفاته الأزليه

    And my annihilation lies in my being an act of His;

Through me His beginningless attributes have given a sign.

And when I am annihilated, I am nothing,

In accordance with our Lord's most holy verses.

And my annihilation is the return to knowledge

    Beginningless, in an everlasting presence.

And my existence, which you behold—my very existence—

Is through the eternal speech, according to the proposition:

And it is God's saying, 'Be!'—and there comes into being the

Thing: whatever He wills among creation.

O sole One in existence, You have no second,

Save that we are Your nonexistent modes.

Yours is a co-presence in us, of which You said:

'With you'—and it is a station of keen insight.

However You will, through me and through others You are

    Manifest to the illusory senses.

And the command is Yours, not ours; binding upon us

Is Your ruling in every deed and intention.

And in every state in which we are,

Its rulings of sacred law bind us,

If we regain sobriety from the intoxication of union; but

If we become intoxicated, then intoxication is the unseen realm of divine identity:

A state that overtakes the sincere among us.

It is not hidden from pure souls.
