أنا الوجود وكل الخلق أفعالي

أنا الوجود وكل الخلق أفعالي

والنفس إن لم أمتها فهي أفعى لي

والنفس إن لم أمتها فهي أفعى لي

I am existence, and all created beings are my acts.

I am existence, and all creation my actions,

And if I do not put the self to death, it is a viper to me.

And the soul, if I do not end it, is a viper to me,

يا مكثرَ اللومِ في تقبيح أعمالي

يا مكثرَ اللومِ في تقبيح أعمالي

شيطان أرسلَكَ الرحمنُ أعمى لي

شيطان أرسلَكَ الرحمنُ أعمى لي

O you who heap up blame in disparaging my deeds,

O you who finds much fault in reviling my deeds,

You are a devil, sent blind to me by the Most Merciful.

The Merciful has sent you, Satan, blind to me.
