I am ʿAbd al-Ghanī—that is, a servant of the Essence of

God, with regard to what is exalted among His attributes.

The judgment is that God—listen!—is indeed Self-Sufficient,

That is, independent of the worlds—meaning, in His Essence.

For in the worlds—that is, every kind

Of what is other than His Essence, such as His creations—

All the attributes are included in one respect,

But not in another, like a face in its mirror.

And if I am thus, then ponder:

Who am I, O ‘I’, captive of His instrument?

‘Allah’ is simply a name for the Essence, encompassing

All the names, as its transmitters have reported.

Thus the two are like ‘One’ and ‘Unique’ in

The validity of predication, after its verification.
