The dominion of heaven and earth

Quivers in all things like a pulse.

كل شيء في الرفع والخفض

كل شيء في الرفع والخفض

Its source, the Command, is one, and through it

All things are raised and lowered.

نحن طوراً إليه نرجع في

مغضب للإله أو مرضي

مغضب للإله أو مرضي

At times we return to Him in

What angers God or pleases Him.

We are all one, without forms,

In the building and undoing of existence.

يا أخلاي هذه خلع

قد أتت من نوالها المحض

O my dear friends, these are robes of honor

That have come from her pure bounty.

لبستها من نحن إياها

وإليها عنا بها نمضي

وإليها عنا بها نمضي

She whom we are has donned them,

And toward her, away from ourselves, through her we go:

حكمت بالحرام والفرض

A unique, holy Presence

That has decreed the forbidden and the obligatory.

حبها حبنا لها أبداً

وهو فينا بالحب والبغض

وهو فينا بالحب والبغض

Her love is our love for her forever,

And it is in us through love and hatred.

تتجلى بنا لنا ولذا

تتجلى بنا لنا ولذا

ينجلي بعضنا على بعض

ينجلي بعضنا على بعض

She reveals herself through us to us, and so

Some of us become manifest to others.

Exalted is He who dwells in no one—

Lightning that does not dwell in the gleam.
