رؤيةseeing الحقthe Real رؤيةseeing الأغيارِother beings
رؤية الحق رؤية الأغيارِ
والتجليand self-disclosure بهذهthrough these الأسرارِthe mysteries
والتجلي بهذه الأسرارِ
Seeing the Real is seeing other beings,
And self-disclosure is through these mysteries.
ربLord of جسمbody وربand Lord of نفسsoul وروحand spirit
رب جسم ورب نفس وروح
واحدone والخلافand the difference بالإعتبارaccording to perspective
واحد والخلاف بالإعتبار
The Lord of body, and the Lord of soul and spirit,
Is one; the difference is a matter of perspective.
رامsought قومsome people بهمthrough themselves إليهto Him وصولاًarrival
رام قوم بهم إليه وصولاً
وهوand He منهمfrom them بكونهمby their existence متوارىhidden
وهو منهم بكونهم متوارى
Some people sought to reach Him through themselves,
While He is hidden from them by their own existence.
رجحتprevailed عندهمwith them معانيmeanings التجليself-disclosure
رجحت عندهم معاني التجلي
والتجليand self-disclosure نفوهthey negated it بالإنكارthrough denial
والتجلي نفوه بالإنكار
The meanings of self-disclosure held sway with them,
Yet they negated self-disclosure through denial.
رغبةdesire النفسthe soul فيfor السوىwhat is other than God حجبتهمveiled them
رغبة النفس في السوى حجبتهم
وعنand instead of الجنةParadise اكتفواthey contented themselves بالنارwith the Fire
وعن الجنة اكتفوا بالنار
The soul's desire for what is other than Him veiled them,
And they settled for the Fire instead of Paradise.
رفعexalted اللهGod بينهمamong them كلevery عبدservant
رفع الله بينهم كل عبد
فحماهso He protected him منfrom ذلةhumiliation وصغارand abasement
فحماه من ذلة وصغار
God exalted every servant among them,
Thus He protected him from humiliation and abasement.
رونقradiance الكشفunveiling ظاهرmanifest منهfrom him لكنbut
رونق الكشف ظاهر منه لكن
سترthe veil of عاداتهمtheir habits علىover العبدthe servant جاريcontinuing
ستر عاداتهم على العبد جاري
The radiance of unveiling shines forth from him, yet
The veil of their habits still lies upon the servant.
ربماperhaps أسفرbrightened الصباحthe morning فراقبso observe
ربما أسفر الصباح فراقب
منكfrom you خلفbehind الحجابthe veil شمسsun النهارthe day
منك خلف الحجاب شمس النهار
Perhaps morning has brightened; so observe
From within yourself the sun of day behind the veil.
رحمةmercy منهfrom Him عمتencompassed الكلall مناof us
رحمة منه عمت الكل منا
وهيand it عينthe very essence of الوجودexistence فيin الكلall ساريpervading
وهي عين الوجود في الكل ساري
Mercy from Him has encompassed us all,
And it is existence itself, pervading all.
رقمتناinscribed us بهاthrough it الكتابthe scribes وعنهاand from it
رقمتنا بها الكتاب وعنها
قدindeed نزلناwe descended علىaccording to كلامthe words of الباريthe Creator
قد نزلنا على كلام الباري
The scribes inscribed us through it, and from it
We have descended, according to the Creator's words.
