يا منزل الركب بين البانِ فالعلمِ
من سفح كاظمةٍ حبيت بالديمِ
O abode of travelers between the dunes and knowledge
From the foothills of Kazimah I fell in love
ويا عربياً أرادوني أموت أساً
في حبهم وأرى دوني رقى بهمِ
And O you Arabs who wanted me to die of thirst
Out of love for them, while I see prosperity in them
هجرانكم قد رمى لما ابتليت به
في مهجتي قدر ما شئتم من النقمِ
Your abandonment made me suffer as much as I was tested
In my gut, as much as you wished of vengeance
شوقي إليكم أبو العباس حيث أبو
إسحاق قلب المعنا وهو في ضرمِ
My longing for you, O Abu Al-Abbas, wherever Abu
Ishaq the wise stayed in isolation
كفى من الدمع يوم البين ما وكفا
وإنني صرت برق القرب لم أشمِ
Enough tears the day we parted were sufficient
And yet I have become lightning that got no scent
يا قلب قلب هوى الأحباب منطرباً
فشادن الحي شاد طيب النغم
O a heart that longs for loved ones perturbed
So the living envied the good rhythm
باتت تؤرقني الورقاءُ صادحة
سل في الهوى هل لها عهد بذي سلمِ
The sleepless knights startled me clamoring
Ask about passion, did they make a truce with peaceful people?
لم يبقَ للجسم رسم بعدهم فمتى
يشفي غليل عليل زايد السقمِ
Neither a trace was left of the body after them so when
Can the sick person's agony be cured if his illness intensified?
إن العقيق به دمعي العقيقي جرى
فحي يا صاح عني الحي من اضمِ
Verily my bloody tears of passion flowed
So live long, my friend, protect me from suppression
زاد الجوى نقص الصبر القليل بنا
لهجرهم ووجودي صار كالعدمِ
The little endurance in us decreased due to
Their abandonment and my existence became like nonexistence
ولست أدري الكرى أم عقل عاذلتي
أقل أم صبر قلبي بعد بعدهم
And I do not know, was it fate or my reckless mind
That decreased or my heart's patience after their remoteness?
لي يوم بينهمِ جسم بلا رمقٍ
أودى السقام به لي يوم بينهمِ
For me there is a day among them when my body has no energy
Illness took it away, for me there is a day among them
ومأملي مدمعي قلبي الشجي جلدي
لم ينقض لم يقف لم يسلُ لم يدمِ
And my wishes, my tears, my fiery heart, my skin
Did not betray, did not stand still, did not slip, were inanimate
على الهوى قد لحاني لايمي سفهاً
أقصر عدمتك إني عنك في ضمِ
Blame me foolishly for passion
Your shortcoming, I am biased to you in inclusion
لا أنت ممن عليه العتب يحسن بي
ولا سماعي لما تبديه من شيمي
You are not of those who deserve reproach
And my hearing of what you express of my traits
فإن من لامني لا خير فيه سوى
وصفي له بأخس الناس كلهم
As for those who blamed me, there is no good in them but
My description of them as the meanest of all people
تعنيفك الغي والطغيان لومك لي
يا ذا النصوح فابشر فزت بالنقم
Your rebuke is nonsense and arrogance, your blame of me
O good counselor, so get glad for you gained vengeance
تهدي لأهل الهوى لؤماً بظاهر
ألفاظ وتعذرهم في باطن الكلمِ
You falsely guide the passionate with superficial
Words and make excuses for them at the core of speech
والسمع في صمم عن جمع ذا الكلم
والدمع كالديم من لمع برقهمِ
And hearing is deaf to gathering such talk
And tears like blood from the shining of their lightning
عشقي ولومك فلنترك أضرهما
للنفس صلحاً بلا قاضٍ ولا حكمِ
Leave both harm of passion and blame
To reconcile the soul without a judge or rule
يا جيرة الحي ما فيكن منقصة
سوى التقى والنقى والرعي للذمم
O neighbors of the living, there is no defect in you
Other than virtue, purity and care for moral duties
من قال حل دمي يوم الفراق لكم
يوم الفراق لكم من قال حل دمي
Who said my blood is permitted the day we parted?
The day we parted, who said my blood is permitted?
ركبت خيل الشقى في حبكم وبها
شهدت حرب الهوى قامت على قدمِ
I rode the horses of misfortune in loving you all
I witnessed the war of passion which stood on its feet
ومن يكن يسوى الأشواق متصفاً
فإنه بعد لم يوجد من العدمِ
And whoever equates longings would not
Be found after lacking from nonexistence
ما للمتيم صبر بعد فرقتكم
وطعمه لم يزل من بعدكم يفي
After your abandonment, what patience is left for the lovesick?
And his taste did not cease to be bitter after you
إني وإن كنت في أهل الهوى فطناً
لكم عرفت واما غيركم فلمِ
Even if I was clever among the passionate about you
I recognized while as for others, no
بالله يا قلب ما هذا الخفوق أرى
أمن تذكر جيران بذي سلمِ
By God O heart, what is this throbbing I see?
Is it from remembering the neighbors of peaceful people?
يا جعفر الدمع ما أنت الرشيد فقف
كلا ولا أنت مأمون على حكمي
O Jaafar tears do not make you rightly guided so stand still
No, and you are not dependent on my rule
قالوا سمعنا بأن القلب منك سلا
فقلت عمن سواكم ذا من القدم
They said we heard your heart was stolen from you
So I said from anyone but you from early times?
قالوا تقلبه عنا فقلت لهم
نعم أقلبه لكن على الضرم
They said you turned it away from us so I said to them
Yes, I turn it but onto a broken heart
لا والمنازل من شرقي كاظمة
ما هام قلبي الشجي في غير حبهم
No, by the dwellings from my east of Kazimah
My fiery heart did not obsess except in loving them
وصرت أهوى عذولي حيث يذكرهم
عندي وأنعته بالحاذق الفهمِ
And I became infatuated where I mention them
In my presence and describe it as the comprehending wise one
والقلب ليس بسالٍ عن محبتهم
ما لم أمت ويصح الصخر من صممِ
And the heart cannot be distracted from loving them
Unless I die and the rock comes back to life from deafness
والصبر عنهم عفى سل لم نفوا جلدي
يا عامر الشوق من قلبي وحيهم
And patience from them disappeared, ask - did my skin not betray me?-
O lover of longing from my heart which is their sanctuary
قلت اتركوا الهجر قالوا ليس عادتنا
قلت ابذلوا الوصل قالوا الوصل لا ترم
I said leave estrangement, they said it is not our habit
I said show affection, they said affection we do not throw away
ومهجتي في يديهم يعبثون بها
الطفل يلعب والعصفور في ألمِ
And my gut is in their hands playing with it
Like a child plays and a bird in pain
كأنما جلدي والصبر قد حلفا
أن لا يقيما بقلبي بعد هجرهم
It is as though my skin and patience swore
Not to dwell in my heart after their abandonment
والجسم مضنى وما السلوان طوع يدي
والقلب ذاب أساً والعين لم تنمِ
And the body is complaining and determination is not at my hand
And the heart melted with sorrow and the eye did not sleep
كم اشتكي ما لقلبي عنك مصطبر
يا مالكي رجة حرب الغرام حمي
How much I complained: Why is my heart impatient with you
O my companion, have mercy the war of love burnt me
امنع أنل اسمح ابخل صل تجن أهن
عذب ترفق تباعد ادن سراقمِ
Give prevent take make peace fight be gentle torture
Get closer distance, this is the trait of the blamer
لا القلب يسلو ولا عيني سواك ترى
إذاً لأصبحت محسوباً من الرممِ
Neither does the heart get solace nor do my eyes see
Anyone but you so I would be counted from ruins
من ذا الذي في البلايا نفس أوقعني
حان المشيب إلى كم فرط حبهمِ
Who is it that involved me in afflictions?
Old age came to me, how much did their love make me neglect?
وليس لي اليوم شغل عندما رحلوا
سوى بهم بل بمدحي أشرف الأممِ
And today I have no other preoccupation when they left
Except with them, but rather with praising the best of nations

بطحاء ذا القرشي الهاشمي الحرمي
Taha the prophet son of Abdullah son of Abu Al
Bat’ha the Qurashi Hashimi the inviolable
هادي الخلايق محمود الطرايق مأ
مون البوايق خير الخلق كلهمِ
Guide of creatures, praised of ways, trusted
Of calamities, best of all people
عليهِ سلمت الأحجار أبلغ من
ماء لموسى بضرب الصخر منسجمِ
Peace be upon him, more eloquent than
The water for Moses from striking the rock which burst
وفاض من اصبعيهِ الماءُ معجزة
حتى الجيوش ارتوت من سايغ شيمِ
And water flowed from his two fingers as a miracle
Until the armies quenched thirst from delicious trait
برٌ رحيمٌ لهُ رفقٌ بامتهِ
وهو الشفيع غدا ينجي من الغُدمِ
Affectionate, merciful to his nation
And he is the intercessor saving from the pitfall
إن قيس بالبحر جوداً فالقياس خطا
ذا ليس عذباً وذا عذب لكل ظي
Compared to Qais in generosity the measurement is wrong
This is not fresh and that is fresh for every protector
نور الغياهب في يوم الوغا بطل
جم المواهب بحر الجود والكرم
Light of the dark on the day of need a brave hero
Gatherer of gifts sea of generosity and bounty
إذا دهى المرء خطب فاستجار به
نجى فمنه استجار الليث في الأجم
If one becomes distressed in matters let him seek refuge through him
He will save so the lion sought refuge through him in swamps
وهو العظيم من الرب العظيم أتى
يبدي العظيم من الآيات والحكمِ
And he is the Great from the Great Lord came
Manifesting the Great of signs and rules
مؤيد العزم يوم الحرب مدرع
بهيبة الفاخرين العز والشمم
Supporter of determination on the day of war armed
With reverence of the prominent honor and loftiness
فاق البرية مولوداً ومنفطماً
مراهقاً وكبيراً بالغ الحلمِ
He surpassed knights born and weaned
Pubescent and elder fully prudent
إنه جوهر الأجسام من شرف
وشأنه عالم الاعراض من عظم
He is the essence of bodies in nobility
And his status the world of spirits from greatness
والحلم والجود فيه والعفاف وما
تحوى الكرام من الأخلاق والشيم
And forbearance, generosity in him and chastity and what
Pearls include of manners and traits
لو لم يكن أفضل الرسل الكرام لما
دامت شريعته من دون شرعهم
Had he not been best of messengers his
Law would not have lasted without their laws
تلألأ الكون إشراقاً بمولده
وزاد نوراً كصدر المسلم الفهمِ
The universe glimmered with his birth
And increased in light like the breast of an intelligent Muslim
وبردت قلبها نيران فارس مذ
كسرى بدا صفعه والتاج عنه رمي
And it cooled the fires of Persia after
Khusraw was slapped and the crown thrown from him
كل النبيين والرسل الكرام لهم
فضلٌ وذا فضلهُ أضعاف فضله
All the prophets and messengers have
Merit and his merit multiples of their merit
من قبله الناس قد كانوا جبابرة
لا يعرفون سوى الهيجاء والصنم
Before him people were tyrants
Who knew none but confusion and idols
دانت لعفته الدنيا فمال به
تمنع طمع الأخرى ولم يهمِ
The world submitted to his chastity so he faced towards it
Preventing the other's greed and did not care
المفرد العلم ابن المفرد العلم
ابن المفرد العلم ابن المفرد العلمِ
The singular knowledge son of the singular knowledge
Son of the singular knowledge son of the singular knowledge
آياته الشمس من فرط الظهور لنا
ووجههُ الشمس في الاشراق والعظمِ
His signs the sun in its excessive appearance to us
And his face the sun in its rise and greatness
دامي المناصل حتى ما لشفرته
غمد كثير رماد القدر من كرم
My sharp swords until the blades
Have no sheath, so much ash of pots from his bounty
لا يحسب القوم إن قلوا وان كثروا
ويحسب الطعن في الأجساد والقمم
The people do not think whether they say much or little
And reckon slander of bodies and loftiness
وطابت سرايره راقت مواردهُذ
جادت مجالسه بالعلم والحكمِ
And his beds delighted, his lands flourished, his
Gatherings generous with knowledge and rules
لو لم تكن نسمات الفجر طيب ثنا
عليهِ ما مدحتها ساير النسم
Had the morning breezes not been good we would have
Praised it like the rest of the winds
طامي الندا للبرايا قايد الكرم
قامي العدا بالعطايا زايد الهممِ
Demanding weapon for the land, leader of bounty
Helper of enemies with gifts, increaser of ambitions
يعلو ويشرق في يومي وغاوندا
كأنه البدر في داج من الظلم
He rises and shines during my lifetime and enemies
As though he is the moon in the pitch darkness
لا زال خير الانام الطايعين له
سامي المفاخر بين العرب والعجمِ
Continuous best of obedient creatures to him
Sublime pride between Arabs and non-Arabs
ندب جواد عطاه غير محتجب
عن امرء لا بلا منه ولا بلم
Urged is his bountiful gift not unrevealed
To any person without ordeal and test
أنواره هي أرواح البرية في
أجسادهم قدرت من سالف القدمِ
His lights are souls of knights in
Their bodies estimated from early times
دعا إلى الله حتى جاء طايفةً
صما فأسمعهم بالسيف والكرم
He called to God until a group came deaf
So he made them hear with the sword and bounty
ذات على الخلق رب الخلق شرفها
قدراً والبسها ثوباً من العصمِ
The Lord of the creation ennobled them
A degree and dressed them in a garment of protection
ذو الجود والكرم والبأس والعظم
قد جاءَ بالحكم عن بارئ النسمِ
Possessor of bounty, bounty and might and greatness
He came with wisdom from Creator of souls
لفوق سبع سموات رقى فراى
ورام ما لا يرى فينا ولم يرمِ
The sword obeyed him until it almost outpaced him
On the day of calamity to the highlands and peaks
والبدر قد شق من بحر السماء له
عصاته اصبع لو كان عن أصمِ
Ask Ohud, ask Hunayn and ask Badr
They notify you of each murdered and sleeping
أنواره الشريف للخافقين وقد
غص الزمان بها من شدة العظمِ
Because of him curses were removed as a favor
And God preferred us all over nations
وجوده واليد العليا كانهما
غيث هي من سماءٍ جمةِ الديمِ
Owner of awe and dignity which attained him
And sending him is a mercy from Granter of rules
أقل أوصافه ما الحسن أحقرهُ
ودون افعاله ما جلَّ عن حكمِ
He walks with every tall fully balanced
He has a tongue and speaks without a mouth
يكاد يسلم من ناداه ملتجياً
من سطوة القدر المحتوم للأممِ
O group of disbelief, had you believed in him
You would have been saved from torture with brokenness
ولم يزل بعلوم الوحي متصفاً
هذا الزمان وفي الآتي ومن قدمِ
Good tidings to you group of Islam through him while
Loss to those who rejected, O long is their grief
محى الضلال بإثبات الهدا وحي
حمى شريعته بالسيف والقلمِ
A people when they oppress, God oppresses them
And if they plan against us, we hurl them off
وما له مشبه بين الورى ابداً
في العلم والحلم والاقدام والهممِ
And God calls to the house of peace
And guides whom He wills so leave them in their misguidance
كالطود في عظم كالبدر في شرفٍ
كالليث في هيبة كالغيث في كرمِ
He destroyed Abu Lahab, half his name forever
Act or he is clear stupidity
واحمت يداه الوغا يمناه قابضة
على الحسام ويسراهُ على اللجمِ
O lightning from the regions of Kazimah’s land
With light burning for us robe of darkness
ليوم بدر أتى والوجه مشتبه
بذلك اليوم يجلو لو حندس الظلمِ
Between aspirations and me is every low
And sparkling land of lowlands and dunes
والخلق طراً قد انقادت لبعثته
إلا الذي صم عن آياتهِ وعمي
Its worries are vacant, no sleep sound for us
Unless they are complete and obtained their kindness
والله أعطاهُ ما لم يعطهِ أحداً
من خلقهِ وحباهُ منه بالنعمِ
This one every who did not follow him has
No doubt in hellfire the well-aware is flung
أطاعه السيف حتى كاد يسبقهُ
يوم الهياج إلى الهامات والقمم
His forbearance spread and God inspired him
All perfection, all knowledge and all rules
وسل حنيناً وسل بدراً وسل أحداً
تنبيك عن كل مقتول ومنم
It is as though he is the full moon at peak of perfection appeared
And his companions stars for guidance through them
من أجلهِ زال عنا المسخ تكرمة
والله فضلنا طراً على الأممِ
The noses smell corpses and they stroll the perfume and they
Are the killers in ambush for the peaks
ذو هيبة ووقارٍ عمَّ نايلهُ
وبعثهُ رحمة من واهب الحكمِ
And everyone wielding spear wrapped
With sword avenger on day of meeting, O God
يمشي بكل طويل الباع معتدل
له لسان وتكليم بغير فمِ
A people their weapon lion of nobility and they have
Dark preciosity, attire embroidered with blood
يا عصبة الكفر ذا لو تؤمنون بهِ
كنتم سلمتم من التعذيب بالضرمِ
Their enemies on day of battle not known
From plenty of stabbing between head and foot
طوبى لكم معشر الإسلام فيه ويا
خسران من كفروا يا طول حزنهمِ
Defaults of shields when they met enemies so they did not speak
Except sharp harvesting iron
قوم إذا ظلموا فالله يظلمهم
وإن يروموا علينا يعتدوا نرمِ
How many raids with spears they launched upon warriors
And victory shines in their delighted faces
والله يدعو الى دار السلام
ويهدي من يشاءُ فدعهم في ضلالهمِ
How they raised captives binding the giants on
Day of strife and swords for blood made hot
أردى أبا لهب نصف اسمه ابداً
افعل أو له عن واضح اللقمِ
And the family of excellence from era’s honor through them
And God did honor over them garment of accusations
يا بارقاً من نواحي أرض كاظمة
بالنور يحرق عنا حلة الظلمِ
They are suns and clouds when they
Get delighted with gifts in faces of servants
بين المرام وبيني كل منخفضٍ
ومشمعلٍ من القيعان والأكمِ
And the star rises a land they mention it
Star of sprouts not what is in their skies
مهامهٌ قفرةٌ لا نوم تم لنا
إن لم تم ونالت رفقهم أهم
Beloveds of God among people, their patience
Revering as enemies in their contrary
ذا الذي كل من لم يتبعه ولا
يرتاب ذو العقل في نار الجحيم رُمي
And sipping fresh water in thirst one day
Is not sweeter than repeating praise of them
عم العدا حلمه واللهالهمهُ
كل الكمال وكل العلم والحكمِ
Stars of truth’s horizon but they are reasons for its crescent
But the full moons that show darkness of night
والفضل شوقي الثنا ذا غير منكتم
ذا غير منكتم ذا غير منكتمِ
White of faces became black, their incidents
Red of swords, green prosperity and blessing
كأنه البدر في أوج الكمال بدا
وصحبه أنجم للاهتدا بهمِ
And loving them is near to God I hope for salvation through it
On day of judgement where people are anxious
شم الأنوف يجولون الوطيس وهم
من الحلاحل بالمرصاد للقممِ
When will a longing lover who separation
Wearying him tell him a dream upon pillows?
ومن كل معتقل بالرمح مشتمل
بالسيف منتقم في الجحفل اللهمِ
How many nights the star stayed awake from anxiety
For you sleepless it did not nap and did not sleep
قوم فرايسهم أسد الشرى ولهم
سمر الوشيج ستور طرّزت بدم
Visit the messenger and stand before his noble presence
And do not fear and pray without fright in sanctuary
يبدون ذلا لمن راموا ومسكنة
ليظفروا في الوغا بالنصر عن أممِ
Send peace upon him, whoever sends him peace
Has ten rewards for one O my friend so take advantage!
مواكب الفخر يوم الحرب اوجههم
كواكب البشر يوم النايل الرذمِ
Perhaps time will soon allow me
To be visited by him O may nights pass gently my illness
لا يعرفون الأذا بدءا لأن لهم
بالمصطفى ذمة محفوظة القسمِ
And the praising servant Abdulghani for him
A shelter despite his deficiencies disorganized
زين الورى أخذوا عنه فسار لهم
به التمدح بين الخلق كلهمِ
Woe to time which tyrannized us
As though deaf of our situation and blind
صحب كرام غدا الصديق افضلهم
على هدى كلهم أسمو بحبهمِ
Bad luck of me from peers held me back
Until my existence like people became like nonexistence
أعداؤهم غير معروفين يوم وغا
من كثروة الطعن بين الراس والقدمِ
And reasons were cut while
All means connected to terrors and difficulty
خرس الدروع وقد لاقوا العداة فلم
يكلمو بغير الصارم الخذمِ
Maybe kindness from the Merciful will attain me
And mercy from Him saving me from brokenness
كم غارة بالقنا شنوا لمصطلمِ
والنصر يلمع في فزاهي وجوههمِ
And I have composed rhymes of praise hoping
For their acceptance drawing essence of wisdom
وكم علوا سلهباً قيد الأوابد في
يوم الوغا وحساماً للدماءِ ظمي
And said to sublime thought when expressing them
O inspiration I have completed praise of master of nations
وآله الغر من عز الزمان بهم
والله قد بز عنهم حلة التهمِ
Upon him my prayers to God continuous
Length of continuity the gratitude to God so dictate!
هم الشموس وغيداق السحاب إذا
تهللوا بالعطا في أوجه الخدمِ
This is my praise so if I earn acceptance through it
I will prosper or enough testing place of accusations
وتطلع النجمَ أرضٌ يذكرون بها
نجم النباتات لا ما في سمايهم
Star of guidance O beloved of God be my support
For cord of love is not severed
أحبة الله بين الخلق صبرهم
معظمين كما الأعدا بضدهم
I complain to you sins which burdened my feet
And life which luck has discarded into nonexistence
وما ارتشاف زلال الماء في ظمأ
يوماً باعذب من تكرار مدحهم
You are our sanctuary at every event
And calamity where reporters intrude
نجوم أفق الهدى بل هم أهلته
بل البدور التي تجلو دجا الظلمِ
I hinted to what I hope from you and does not
Require the likes of you of words and speech
بيض الوجوه غدت سوداً وقايعهم
حمر الصوارم خضر العيش والنعمِ
So my master if I have worthiness
Then grace me as boon to all creatures spread
وحبهم قربة أرجو النجاة به
يوم القيامة حيث الناس في غمِ
Light of truth O beloved of God be steadfast for me
So tie of amity does not come apart
يا أشرفَ الرسل يا غوث الخلايق يا
نور الوجود استجب يا سيد الأممِ
وإني دعوتك لما الدهر جار على
ضعفي وقاسيت منه بأس منتقمِ
ولم أجد مسعفاً أشكو الزمان له
بل وجدتك يا سؤلي ومعتصمي
وأنت ملجاؤنا في كل حادثة
وكل خطب خطير ارفع مقتحمِ
وقد أشرت لما أرجو منك ولا
يحتاج مثلك للألفاظ الكلمِ
وسيدي ان يكن لي بالقبول سخا
سخا بفضل وجود للورى عممِ
نور الهدى يا حبيب الله كن سندي
فإن حبل ودادي غير منفصمِ
أشكو إليك ذنوباً ثقلت قدمي
وعيشة قد رماها الحظ بالعدمِ
وقد مدحتك أرجو منك طود تقى
مشفعاً شافعاً في كل مزدحمِ
متى يزورك مشتاق أضر بهِ
طولُ النوى فحكى لحماً على وضم
كم ليلة بات يرعى النجم من قلق
عليك سهران لم يغمض ولم ينمِ
زر الرسول وقف قدام حضرته
ولا تخف وابتهل لا خوف في حرمِ
صلي عليه فمن صلى عليه لهُ
عشر بواحدة يا صاح واغتنمِ
عسى الزمان بقرب منه يسمح لي
عسى الليالي به تحنو على سقمي
والعبد ناظمها عبد الغني له
شمل على الرغم منه غير منتظمِ
ويح الزمان الذي قد جار ممتهناً
كأنه صم عن أحوالنا وعمي
وسوء حظئي عن الأقران أخرني
حتى وجودي غدا في الناس كالعدمِ
وقد تقطعت الأسباب واتصلت
كل الجوانب بالأهوال والنقمِ
لعل لطفاً من الرحمن يدركني
ورحمة منه تنجيني من الضرمِ
وقد نظمت عقود المدح مرتجياً
قبولها مستمداً جوهر الحكمِ
وقلت للربع لما الفكر أرخها
يا ربع قد تم مدحي سيد الأممِ
عليه مني صلاة الله دايمة
طول المدا ما ابتدا شكر الإله فمي
هذا مديحي فإن نلت القبول به
سعدت أولا فحسبي موقف التهمِ
