عالم الدينا مجاز كله

عالم الدينا مجاز كله

أي مجاز هو عقليٌّ فقطْ

أي مجاز هو عقليٌّ فقطْ

The world of this life is wholly metaphor;

that is, a metaphor of the intellect alone.

نسبة للعقل فافهم قولنا

نسبة للعقل فافهم قولنا

تجد الأمر الذي فيه انضبط

تجد الأمر الذي فيه انضبط

An attribution to the intellect—so understand our words;

you will find the matter precisely defined therein.

فلذا التكليف في الدينا على

فلذا التكليف في الدينا على

أهلها بالعقل شرع الله حط

أهلها بالعقل شرع الله حط

Thus, in this world, religious duty rests upon

its people, imposed through reason by God's law.

عالم الأخرى حقيقة ترى

عالم الأخرى حقيقة ترى

كلها ما بين أرضَى وسخط

كلها ما بين أرضَى وسخط

The world hereafter is reality, as you see,

all of it between the granting of contentment and wrath.

وعلى الأمة في الأخرى فلا

وعلى الأمة في الأخرى فلا

شرعَ والتكليف عنهم قد سقط

شرعَ والتكليف عنهم قد سقط

And for the community in the hereafter, there is thus no

religious law, and obligation has been lifted from them.

حكَمٌ أحكامها محكمة

حكَمٌ أحكامها محكمة

وبها القرآن بالوحي هبط

وبها القرآن بالوحي هبط

These are wisdoms whose rulings are firmly established;

and with them the Qur'an descended through revelation.

فتأمل يا أخا العرفان في

فتأمل يا أخا العرفان في

قولنا هذا به الصدق ارتبط

قولنا هذا به الصدق ارتبط

So reflect, O brother of gnosis, upon

this saying of ours, to which truth is bound.

والذي يعرض عنه لم يزل

والذي يعرض عنه لم يزل

جاهلاً في الأمر بالعلم اختبط

جاهلاً في الأمر بالعلم اختبط

And whoever turns away from it remains

ignorant of the matter, floundering in knowledge.

فتراه واقفاً مع عقله

فتراه واقفاً مع عقله

ما درى شيئاً من الأكوان قطّْ

ما درى شيئاً من الأكوان قطّْ

So you see him standing by his intellect,

never having known a thing of created existence.
