علت بي كعبة الذات البديعَهْ

لأسماء نزيهات رفيعهْ

With me rose the wondrous Kaaba of the Essence,

The wondrous Kaaba of the Essence lifted me

for Names pure and exalted.

وقد ملئ الإناء من العطايا

وقد ملئ الإناء من العطايا

وفُرِّغ في النفوس المستطيعه

وفُرِّغ في النفوس المستطيعه

And the vessel was filled with gifts,

And the vessel was indeed filled with gifts,

then emptied into receptive souls.

and emptied into souls able to receive.

لنا عجز ومقدرة وعلم

لنا عجز ومقدرة وعلم

وجهل فالحصون لنا المنيعه

وجهل فالحصون لنا المنيعه

Ours are helplessness, power, and knowledge,

Ours are incapacity, ability, and knowledge,

and ignorance—thus ours are the impregnable fortresses.

ومن علم الحقيقة قد شربنا

وكان الأكل من علم الشريعه

Of the knowledge of Reality we have drunk,

And we have drunk of the knowledge of Reality,

and our food came from knowledge of the Sacred Law.

ومن يشري من الرحمن نفساً

ومن يشري من الرحمن نفساً

له الأولى ببخس أن يبيعه

له الأولى ببخس أن يبيعه

And whoever buys a soul from the All-Merciful—

And whoever buys a soul from the All-Merciful—

it is more fitting that he sell it for a pittance.

it is better for him to sell it for a paltry price.
