وجود كوني من تجلي الجوادْ

هذا عطاء ماله من نفادْ

My universal existence is from the manifestation of the Generous

This is a gift that has no end

يا عدماً أحرفه خطها

كاتبه النور بنور المدادْ

O non-existence, its letters are written

By the Light with the ink of the inkwell

أنت شؤن الحق لا يلتبس

عليك معبود هنا بالعباد

You are the affair of Truth that does not confuse

The worshipped one here with the worshippers

وبينه فرق وبين الورى

وبالغنى والفقر فالفرق باد

And between them there is a difference and between people

And with wealth and poverty, so the difference is null

واجمع فشيء واحد ما به

تعدد في نظر الإقتصاد

And gather, so it is one thing in which

There is no multiplicity in the view of moderation

واكتب به بالأبيض المجتلي

والناس دعهم يكتبون بالسواد

And write with it in shining white

And let people write in black

واشهد بما تعرف فيما ترى

شهادة الحق بغير استناد

And testify to what you know in what you see

The testimony of Truth without dependence

وأيقظ الخاطر من غفلة

وامسح من الأغيار كحل الرقاد

And awaken the mind from heedlessness

And wipe away the sorrows like kohl from sleep

من لي بمن يبدو بأسمائه

فيفعل الغي بها والرشاد

Who do I have that appears with His names?

So He does the absent and the guidance

والكل مفعول له مطلق

عن قيد حرف جامع للتضاد

And everything is His absolute object

Without the shackle of a letter, encompassing opposites

صاد جميعي بظهوراته

لصدغه والعين دال وصاد

The letter Saad, with His appearances

To his temple, and the eye is Dal, and Saad

يحكم ما شاء بنا دائماً

لا جور منه كيفما قد أراد

He judges whatever He wills over us always

No injustice from Him however He wanted

وعشقه صيرنا كالهبا

وزادنا فرط البكا والسهاد

And longing for Him made us like embers

And increased us in excessive crying and vigil

بالله يا سائق ركباننا

قل لسليمى طال هذا البعاد

By God, O driver of our mounts

Tell Salimi, this separation is too long

إني على العهد مقيم لها

وإنني عنها كصوب العهاد

I am still true to my promise to her

And I pine for her like the pendant of a necklace

يا طالما نلت بها خلوة

وفزت منها بلذيذ المراد

O how much I gained privacy with her

And obtained the sweetness of desire from her

كانت تناجيني على ذلتي

وعزها باللطف والإتحاد

She used to confide in me in my lowliness

And honor me with kindness and union

واليوم لما ذبت في حبها

والروح والجسم مضى والفؤاد

And today when I melted in love for her

My soul and body left and so did my heart

وصار كلي مقتضى كلها

وقوبل العالي لها بالوهاد

And I wholely became what she requires

And I faced the Lofty with submission

واختطفت ذات بذات لها

وزال ذاك الكد والإجتهاد

And she seized essence with her essence

And that tiredness and effort disappeared

وانطفت النار بنور اللقا

وللهوى لم يبق غير الرماد

And the fire was extinguished by the light of meeting

And nothing of passion remained but ashes

غابت فلم أدر لها من نبا

وأدرك الزرع وصار الحصاد

She was absent so I did not know any news of her

And the plants grew and became harvest

كأنني في كونها لم أكن

وهي التي كانت بحكم انفراد

It is as if I did not exist in her existence

And she is the one who existed by her uniqueness

وإن هذا في الهوى قولها

على لساني لمرادي أفاد

And this, in passion, is her word

To my purpose she brought benefit

لا أنني قلت فحمدي لها

منها عليها زاد والشكر زاد

Not that I spoke, so my praise to her

From her to her, increased, and gratitude increased

وهي التي تعرفني مثل ما

كنت قديماً شرراً في زناد

She is the one who knows me just like

I used to be in the past, sparks in the flint

واقتدحتني بإراداتها

فلحت مثل البرق شيأً يراد

And she struck me with her will

So I sparked like lightning that is wanted

وعدت لا برقاً ولا بارقاً

والشمس عنها الغيم في الأفق حاد

And I returned, not as lightning or a lightning spark

And the sun beyond the clouds in the horizon withdrew

فتارة عني بما قد مضى

تترجم الأحوال بالإفتقاد

So sometimes she translates to me the states

With inquiry about what has passed

وتارة تترك لا تعتني

حسب الذي منها يكون المراد

And sometimes she leaves me and does not care

According to what is the purpose from her

وهكذا الكل لها راجع

والكون كون والبلاد البلاد

And thus everything returns to her

And existence is existence and countries are countries

لا تحسب التحقيق غير الذي

أنت له تدرك يا ذا العناد

Do not assume the realization is other than what

You perceive, O stubborn one!

لكنك المحكوم منها بها

عليك بالجهل وبالإنتقاد

But you are judged by her through her

Upon you are ignorance and criticism

وهي علىما هي في حضرة

يصدر عنها ذو ضلال وهاد

While she is as she is in the presence

From her issues one astray and one guided

بمقتضى أسمائها للذي

شاءت من الإبهام في الإعتقاد

According to the requirement of her names

For what she willed from ambiguity in belief
