آلة الشكر هذه الأموالُ

تترقى بها النسا والرجالُ

This machine of gratitude,

with it women and men ascend,

فاجمعوها لتنفقوها على من

تنفقوها عليه وهي حلال

So gather it to spend it upon those

you spend it on, and it is lawful,

واقصدوا وجه ربكم لتنالوا

كل خير وليس منكم سؤال

And seek the face of your Lord to attain

all good and there is no questioning from you,

درهم تنفقونه فيه ينمو

وبه يدفع الردى والضلال

A coin you spend in it grows

and with it the misguidance and deviance is blocked,

وبه الله عنك راض إذا كا

ن حلالاً تنال مالا ينال

And with it God is pleased with you when

it is lawful, you attain wealth that cannot be attained,

واحذر احذر أن تقتفي كرماً في

غير شكر الإله فهو وبال

And beware, beware that you do not follow generosity in

other than thanking God, for it is affliction,

أو بمال محرم فهو إثم

وخصوصاً فيما عساه يقال

Or with unlawful money, for it is sin,

especially regarding what may be said,

إنما الشكر فرض عين علينا

وهو منا الأقوال والأفعال

Gratitude is an obligation upon us,

and it is from us, words and actions,

كل ما كان طاعة فهو شكر

والمعاصي كفران ما لا يزال

All that was obedience is gratitude,

and disobedience is ungratefulness that does not cease,

من تناويع نعمة الله ما لم

تُحصَ فالله محسن مفضال

From the blessings of God, what has not

been counted, for God is Beneficent, Bountiful.
