    لم يدخل الوقت الذي هو واجبُ

    O claimant to gnosis, your thinking is false;

    the appointed time that must come has not yet arrived.

    For it is the ego within you that lied and did not

    speak true, while you are both addressed and addressing.

    a spirit that illumines, with no depths of darkness there?

    Then your whole being shines by your Lord’s name,

    and all easts and wests vanish from your sight.

    Truly, the Reality and the Sacred Law are one,

    and division between them is a rampant delusion.

    the Beloved’s face; there He has beloved ones.

    Seek, and remain forever turned toward Him:

    the seeker wins favor and attains the desired goal.

    Yet by your claim to existence you were veiled from

    the One invoked; the gnostics are spiritual drinking-founts.

    وله شكرنا والعطاء مواهب

    And God granted us stations of nearness to Him;

    to Him belongs our thanks, and His giving is pure bounty,

    until we beheld His face like the sun, for

    the Coiner of similitudes had revealed the likeness to us through it,

    in the Garden of Eternity, which has never ceased

    to exist through the Being of Him who is its Master.

    He is your companion if you set out as a traveler

    away from all but Him—for all but Him are strangers—

    وهو النبي عليه صلَّى الواهب

    in accord with what a Messenger has told you;

    he is the Prophet—may the Bestower bless him.
