My whole being has become hearts bewildered in Him,

When He revealed Himself; whatever He chooses, we choose.

    وإن نظرت فكلي فيه أبصار

    And all of me is ears listening intently to Him;

And if I look, all of me is eyes beholding Him.

He is the Unseen, veiled within created things; in them He is

Light and fire, yet neither light nor fire.

And He is Being, transcendent and pure—exalted is He! Thus there is no

Thing besides Him, and all things are traces of Him.

When He wills, that which is willed appears through Him,

As He wills, and from Him other things have come to be.

And all is in His knowledge, but His will

Conceals and reveals—thus concealment and disclosure.

Exalted is the Guardian in the sanctity of His presence,

Above all besides Him; all creatures have been bewildered by Him.

Reason bears no blame; this is the extent of its capacity,

And that is its glorification and remembrance.

But if it acknowledges its incapacity,

Then it is a believer; otherwise it is an utter unbeliever.

For the Real has no affinity with anything,

Nor in any respect; thus denial is like affirmation.
