The light of love's face has dawned,

And all creation bowed its head.

Woe to whoever turned away and recoiled

From him, while the lightning flashed.

هذه كاس الحميا

تنجلي منها عليا

This is the cup of potent wine;

From it you shine forth upon me.

هيَّ يا ندمان هيّا

هيَّ يا ندمان هيّا

فاشربوا الصرف المروَّقْ

فاشربوا الصرف المروَّقْ

Come, O drinking companions, come!

So drink the unmixed, clarified wine.

أهيفٌ حلو الشمائلْ

أهيفٌ حلو الشمائلْ

عطفه كالغصن مائلْ

Slender-waisted, sweet of character,

His body leans like a branch.

قام يسعى في غلائل

قام يسعى في غلائل

مهجة العشاق أحرقْ

مهجة العشاق أحرقْ

He rose and moved in gauzy robes;

He set the lovers' hearts ablaze.

لا تقل زيد وعمرو

لا تقل زيد وعمرو

لا ولا شمس وبدرُ

لا ولا شمس وبدرُ

Do not say, 'Zayd and Amr,'

No, nor 'sun and full moon.'

هو رب منه قهرُ

هو رب منه قهرُ

لبس الثوب المزوَّقْ

لبس الثوب المزوَّقْ

He is Lord, from whom comes overpowering might;

He donned the ornamented robe.

وعلى طه صلاتي

وعلى طه صلاتي

وسلامي يا ثقاتي

وسلامي يا ثقاتي

And upon Taha be my blessings

And my salutations, O my trusted companions.

للغنى عبد مواتي

للغنى عبد مواتي

في بحار العلم يغرق

في بحار العلم يغرق

A willing servant of the All-Sufficient

Drowns in the seas of knowledge.
