    My tears, for fear of You, O my Master, have turned to blood.

    And my heart, from what afflicts it, has neared extinction.

    So forgive the sins of a man who hopes in You in secret.

    O You who are exalted and see what is hidden, and what lies

    عبدٌ ذليل فقير الصبر ذاهبه

    Beneath the earth, while the darkness of night hangs down.

    A lowly, needy servant, his patience gone;

    Time's injustice and separation's severity plunder him.

    O You whose gifts to creation cannot be counted,

    أنت الدليل لمن حارت به الحيلُ

    You are the succor of one whose paths have narrowed;

    You are the guide of one whose devices have failed him.

    He hopes in You when time's calamities come knocking,

    And when our tongues are speaking praise.

    إنا قصدناك والآمال واثقةٌ

    So be gracious, for Your kindly ways are long established.

    Indeed, we have sought You, our hopes assured;

    And all call upon You, anguished and imploring.

    Be forgiving, O my God, of a transgressor's sin,

    Who spends his nights with tears streaming for You.

    And I have come to You, my burdens of sin immense.

    وإن سطوت فأنت الحاكم العدِلُ

    So if You forgive, You are bountiful and generous;

    And if You punish, You are the just Judge.

    The days have pursued Abd al-Ghani

    Since childhood, while fortune's eyes lie asleep.

    So aid him, O You in whom minds are lost in love.

    Then may blessings upon the Chosen One endure,

    As long as a steady downpour perfumes the meadow.
