الله أنزل حكم أمري

الله أنزل حكم أمري

في نشأتي في ليل قدر

God sent down the decree concerning me

at my coming into being, on a night of destiny.

وأنا الخفي هنا وما

أدراك ما قدري وفخري

And I am the hidden one here—and what

could tell you what my worth and glory are?

أنا ليلة القدر التي

أنا ليلة القدر التي

هي خير قل من ألف شهر

هي خير قل من ألف شهر

I am the Night of Destiny, which

is better—say—than a thousand months,

ذي شهرة من أوليا

ذي شهرة من أوليا

ء الوقت زبدة أهل عصري

ء الوقت زبدة أهل عصري

renowned among the saints

of the age, the cream of the people of my time.

تتنزل الأملاك أر

تتنزل الأملاك أر

واح المعاني وسط صدري

واح المعاني وسط صدري

The angels descend—the spirits

of meanings—into the midst of my breast:

لمحات أسرار الرجا

لمحات أسرار الرجا

ل الجامعين لفرق سري

ل الجامعين لفرق سري

flashes of the secrets of the men

who gather the scattered parts of my secret.

أنا شمسهم والنور يب

أنا شمسهم والنور يب

دو لي بهم في كل بدر

دو لي بهم في كل بدر

I am their sun, and the light appears

to me through them in every full moon,

في كل مرتبة لهم

في كل مرتبة لهم

حسب المقام وحسب ذكر

حسب المقام وحسب ذكر

in every rank that is theirs,

according to the station and according to remembrance,

حسب الهلال ورتبة ال

حسب الهلال ورتبة ال

قمر الذي في الأفق يجري

قمر الذي في الأفق يجري

according to the crescent and the rank of the

moon that courses along the horizon.

والروح روح الحق عن

والروح روح الحق عن

إذن الإله بكل أمر

إذن الإله بكل أمر

And the Spirit is the spirit of the Real, by

God's permission, with every command.

مني السلام علي حت

مني السلام علي حت

تى أنقضي بطلوع فجري

تى أنقضي بطلوع فجري

From me comes peace upon me, until

I come to an end with the rising of my dawn.
