إنَّ لِلْثَاءِ فِي الحُروفِ ثَبَات

وَلِبَادِي ثَبَاتِهِ وَثَبَات

Indeed constancy is for praise in letters

And for the Beginner is constancy and constancy

حرف سر سرى بلا سريان

في المعاني جمع له وشتاتُ

A letter is secret that flowed without flowing

In meanings gathered for it and scattered

هو هذا هذا وهذا وهذا

تتسامى آياتُهُ البيناتُ

It is this, this and this and this

Its clear signs sublime

وهو أمر محقق في أمور

كشخوصٍ تُريكَها المرآةُ

And it is a matter realized in matters

Like a form the mirror shows you

أخذت ظاهراً وأعطت خفياً

فسكارى شهودها وصحاةُ

It took apparently and gave secretly

So intoxicated are its witnesses and wakeful
