دوائرُ أوهامٍ بها شغل الفكرُ

فظاهرها خلقٌ وباطنها أمرُ

Circles of illusions, with which thought is preoccupied

Its appearance is a creation, and its essence is a command

فتوحات محي الدين عنها عبارة

أتتنا منَ البكري مشرقة بكر

Revelations of Mevlana, they are an expression of it

Came to us from Al-Bakri radiantly pure

فهمنا بها لما فهمنا خطابها

وفي قولنا قد بان من بحرها الدر

We understood through them when we understood their words

And in our words the pearls of its sea became clear

وذلك علم العين بالغين نقطة

هي الكاس والسر الإلهي هو الخمر

That knowledge is a dot of the silent letter in perceiving

It is the cup and the divine secret is the wine

وما العين إلا الغين بالذات باطناً

كما ظاهراً بالوصف ثنّاهما الذكر

The silent letter is nothing but the pronounced letter in essence internally

As externally in attribution both were mentioned

مقام أولي التحقيق كالشمس رفعة

ومرتبة الإفصاح عنه هي البدر

The station of the verified is like the elevated sun

And the rank of expressing it is the moon

ولم ينتقل شيء إلى البدر في السما

من الشمس بل طي الضياء له نشر

Nothing has moved in the sky from the sun to the moon

But the diffusion of light has been spread to it

فغيرية الأعيان خلق لأنها

بظاهرها الفاني الكثير هي المكر

The otherness of beings is a creation because they

In their vanishing appearance are the numerous deceit

وباطنها الباقي الذي هو واحد

هدىً حيث لا زيد هناك ولا عمرو

And their lasting essence which is One

Guidance, where there is no increase or decrease

وما ثمَّ إلا الوهم قوة حضرة

إلهية عنها بدا السر والجهر

And there is nothing but the imagining power a divine presence

From which the secret and openness appeared

تجلت كما شاءت وشاءت كما درت

وتدري كما يعطيه في نفسه الأمر

It manifested as it willed and willed as it knew

And knows as the command gives itself in its essence

فكنهاً على غيب ولا كنه ترتجي

لها فسواها موجها وهي البحر

So its essence is unseen and no essence is hoped for it

He directed it and it is the sea

وما حل في الأمواج بحر ولا به

قد اتحدت بل تلك عنه لها البر

What dissolved in the waves, sea, did not

Unite with it, but those are for it the land

ولا هي حلت فيه إذ لم يكن لها

وجود سواه وهي منه لها قدر

Nor did it dissolve in it, as it had no existence apart from it

And it has a foreordained quantity from it

هو الحق والأكوان قاموا به له

كما صور التخييل يحفظها الفكر

He is the Truth and the universes existed through Him for Him

As imaginative forms are preserved by thought
