إني أنا بك يا ودودْ

إني أنا بك يا ودودْ

عدم أحاط به الوجودْ

عدم أحاط به الوجودْ

Indeed, through You, O Loving One, I am

nothingness encompassed by Being.

حق أحاط بباطلٍ

حق أحاط بباطلٍ

وله الركوع به السجودْ

وله الركوع به السجودْ

Reality has encompassed unreality;

and to Him belongs bowing, through Him prostration.

وكذا العوالم كلها

وكذا العوالم كلها

مثلي ومثلك يا كنود

مثلي ومثلك يا كنود

And likewise are all the worlds,

like me and like you, O ungrateful one.

ما ثم غير إحاطة

ما ثم غير إحاطة

بالكل من رب ودود

بالكل من رب ودود

There is nothing there but an encompassing

of all by a loving Lord.

والظل أنت وعلمه

والظل أنت وعلمه

في نور طلعته العمود

في نور طلعته العمود

And you are the shadow, and His knowledge

is the pillar in the light of His countenance.

يا ذا المحيط بنا كما

يا ذا المحيط بنا كما

هو بالجميع له النفود

هو بالجميع له النفود

O you! The One encompassing us—as

He does all—has pervading reach.

سور به ظهرت لها

سور به ظهرت لها

صور بأنواع الحدود

صور بأنواع الحدود

An enclosing wall, through which there appeared for them

forms with various kinds of boundaries.

قدم كمثل دوائر

قدم كمثل دوائر

أوساطها عدم يرود

أوساطها عدم يرود

Pre-eternity is like circles,

whose centers are a wandering nothingness.

والله قال بكل شي

والله قال بكل شي

ء قل محيط محض جود

ء قل محيط محض جود

And God has said: 'All things

He encompasses'—say: sheer bounty.

بل ذاك قرآن مجي

بل ذاك قرآن مجي

د وهو في لوح الورود

د وهو في لوح الورود

Rather, that is a glorious Qur'an,

and it is on the tablet of arrival.

يا من تحير فيه لم

يا من تحير فيه لم

يعرفه ما هذا الصدود

يعرفه ما هذا الصدود

O you who are bewildered about Him and have not

known Him—what is this turning away?

كم ذا التواني هذه

كم ذا التواني هذه

أكفان مثلك واللحود

أكفان مثلك واللحود

How long this delay? These are

the shrouds of your like, and the graves.

فاطلب إلهك وحده

فاطلب إلهك وحده

منه به ودع الجحود

منه به ودع الجحود

So seek your God alone,

from Him, through Him, and abandon denial.

واعلم بأنك إن طلب

واعلم بأنك إن طلب

ت سواه معه فلا يجود

ت سواه معه فلا يجود

And know that if you seek

any other with Him, He will not give generously.

هو واحد في ملكه

هو واحد في ملكه

والخلق أجمعهم جنود

والخلق أجمعهم جنود

He is One in His dominion,

and created beings, all of them, are troops.

كن فيه يقظاناً له

كن فيه يقظاناً له

ودع البرية في رقود

ودع البرية في رقود

Be awake in Him, for Him,

and leave creation in slumber.

وانظر إليه به ولا

وانظر إليه به ولا

تنظر إليك عسى تسود

تنظر إليك عسى تسود

And look toward Him through Him, and do not

look toward yourself; perhaps you will attain mastery.

في قلبك السر الخفي

في قلبك السر الخفي

شمس لها منك القيود

شمس لها منك القيود

In your heart, the hidden secret

is a sun whose fetters come from you.

هذا مقام أولي النهى

هذا مقام أولي النهى

تلك الجهابذة الأسود

تلك الجهابذة الأسود

This is the station of those endowed with understanding,

those master sages, those lions.

فاسلك على منهاجهم

فاسلك على منهاجهم

واحرص على حفظ العهود

واحرص على حفظ العهود

So travel upon their path,

and be diligent in keeping the covenants.

ترفع إلى أوج العلا

ترفع إلى أوج العلا

وتكون من أهل الشهود

وتكون من أهل الشهود

You will be raised to the zenith of sublimity,

and become one of the people of witnessing.
