دع من يجادل أو يماطلْ

دع من يجادل أو يماطلْ

واعلم بأن الكلَّ باطلْ

واعلم بأن الكلَّ باطلْ

Leave whoever argues or temporizes,

Leave whoever argues or stalls.

and know that all is vain.

And know that everything is unreal.

والحق حق واحدٌ

والحق حق واحدٌ

وبه غبار الكون ساطل

وبه غبار الكون ساطل

The Real is one single Reality,

And the Real is one Reality,

and through Him the dust of the cosmos billows.

and through Him the dust of existence rises.

يا من يعدده ولا

يا من يعدده ولا

يدريه خاطٍ أنت خاطل

يدريه خاطٍ أنت خاطل

O you who make Him many—no

O you who reckon Him as many and do not

wayfarer comprehends Him; you speak in folly.

know Him: you are mistaken and speaking nonsense.

يا غافلون تنكبوا

يا غافلون تنكبوا

عنا فغيث الفتح هاطل

عنا فغيث الفتح هاطل

O heedless ones, turn aside

O heedless ones, turn aside

from us, for the rain of divine opening pours down.

هذا الذي لا تعرفو

ن ولو جريتم في القساطل

This is what you do not

This is what you do not know,

know, though you race amid battle’s clouds of dust.

even if you raced through clouds of dust.

وقفوا بأرض عقولكم

وقفوا بأرض عقولكم

إن الذي تدرون عاطل

إن الذي تدرون عاطل

And stand upon the ground of your minds:

And stand upon the ground of your intellects;

indeed, what you know is empty.

ما حظكم غير السوى

ما حظكم غير السوى

منه وما فزتم بناطل

منه وما فزتم بناطل

Your portion is nothing but what is other than

Your share is nothing but otherness

Him; nor have you won a single draught.

from Him, and you have not gained even a small cupful.
