This true Being, the One, the Unique,

is revealed to us by spirit and body.

I seek God's forgiveness: no spirit reveals to us

anything of Him, nor any body; the nonexistent has no hand.

    And everything, all of it, reveals Him thus;

no father is outside Him, nor any child.

I seek God's forgiveness: He is not revealed to us

by anything; and we find nothing but God's Being.

I am wholly nonexistent in Him, for I have already

appeared from His knowledge of me; in Him I become one.

And all beings are annihilated in Him,

    nonexistent—not one of them endures.

God is greatest, Lord of all creatures—

this Being, whose sustaining flow is within them.

And God is their Creator, meaning the One who ordains them,

as it has come to us in the Quran, which is relied upon.

And that is in the beginningless eternity of eternities; we have no

beginning in it, for He is the Creator, the Self-Sufficient One.

So behold Him within you, and do not affirm your own being while

beholding Him: you are nonexistent and absent.

And all of us have always remained in His knowledge,

and His knowledge is His Essence—nay, His knowledge is endless eternity.

He is Being, and the objects of His knowledge have appeared

from His knowledge, within Him; their number cannot be counted.

And indeed He is the Real, singular and One; and through Him

all creatures, from Him, are perpetually new.

So they are seen fleetingly in Being; for they are,

by His true command, like lightning that flares.

And His command is one, and it is Being for them—

an Essence that is the Unseen, neither begotten nor begetting.
