إن بين الوجود والموجودِ

حرف ميم بها مدار الشهودِ

حرف ميم بها مدار الشهودِ

Indeed, between existence and the existent

Lies the letter mīm, around which witnessing revolves.

وهو حرف محمدي شريف

هو عين الآباء عين الجدود

هو عين الآباء عين الجدود

And it is a noble Muhammadan letter;

It is the very essence of fathers, the very essence of forefathers.

وهو إمكانُ كل شيء تبدى

وهو إمكانُ كل شيء تبدى

وهو نفس الرسوم نفس القيود

وهو نفس الرسوم نفس القيود

And it is the possibility of everything that has appeared;

And it is the forms themselves, the constraints themselves.

وله دورة كلمعة برق

وله دورة كلمعة برق

هي من عين وقفة وجمود

هي من عين وقفة وجمود

And it has a revolution like a flash of lightning;

It arises from the very essence of a pause and immobility.

وهو أمر الإله في كل خلق

وهو أمر الإله في كل خلق

بالتقادير في الشقا والسعود

بالتقادير في الشقا والسعود

And it is God's command in every creature,

Through decrees, in wretchedness and good fortune.

ألف باستقامة وهي ميم

ألف باستقامة وهي ميم

حيث دارت في خدمة المعبود

حيث دارت في خدمة المعبود

An alif when straight, and it is a mīm

Where it circles in service of the Worshipped One.

والوجود الوجود ما زال عما

والوجود الوجود ما زال عما

كان فيه بخطها الممدود

كان فيه بخطها الممدود

And existence—existence—has not departed from the state

It was in, with its extended stroke.

وهي عقل يرى الإضافة حتماً

وهي عقل يرى الإضافة حتماً

لوجود المهيمن المقصود

لوجود المهيمن المقصود

And it is an intellect that deems attribution necessary

To the existence of the All-Watchful One, the One sought.

فاعذروه لأنه عبد رب

فاعذروه لأنه عبد رب

هائم في ركوعه والسجود

هائم في ركوعه والسجود

So excuse him, for he is a servant of a Lord,

Enraptured in his bowing and prostration.

وهو باقي الحروف أيان ولّى

وهو باقي الحروف أيان ولّى

بانحراف لوجهه المشهود

بانحراف لوجهه المشهود

And he is the rest of the letters, whenever he turns,

Inclining toward His witnessed face.
