شرَّف ناسوتي بلاهوتِهِ
منHe who جلis exalted عنbeyond نعتيmy description ومنعوتِهِand what it describes
من جل عن نعتي ومنعوتِهِ
He ennobled my human nature with His divinity,
His divinity ennobled my humanity
He who transcends my description and what it describes.
He is far above my attributes and descriptions
محجبveiled خلفbehind سجوفcurtains الورىcreation
محجب خلف سجوف الورى
صدىecho الفتىthe young man ينبيكinforms you عنabout صوتهhis voice
صدى الفتى ينبيك عن صوته
Veiled behind the curtains of creation,
Veiled behind the curtains of creation
The young man's echo tells you of his voice.
The youth's echo informs you of His voice
عنهfrom Him بهby Him الأفكارthoughts مشغولةdistracted
عنه به الأفكار مشغولة
تحصيلهاtheir attainment دلindicated علىto فوتهHis eluding them
تحصيلها دل على فوته
Thoughts are distracted from Him by Him;
Thoughts about Him keep one occupied
Their attainment points to His eluding them.
To comprehend Him indicates missing Him
وكلand everyone منwho قدhas ماتdied فيin حبهHis love
وكل من قد مات في حبه
أدركattained ماwhat يرجوهhe hopes for it فيin موتهhis death
أدرك ما يرجوه في موته
And everyone who has died in His love
And whoever dies in His love
Has attained what he hopes for in his death.
