ونحن أهل الصفا لا نقبل الكدرا

ونحن أهل الصفا لا نقبل الكدرا

أقبل علينا صفيّاً واسمع الخبرا

أقبل علينا صفيّاً واسمع الخبرا

And we are the people of purity; we accept no murkiness.

We are the people of purity, we do not accept turbidity

Come to us as a true friend, and hear the news.

Come to us pure, and listen to the news

وكن بأوصافنا في القرب متصفاً

وكن بأوصافنا في القرب متصفاً

تنل مرادك منا كيف منك جرى

تنل مرادك منا كيف منك جرى

And in nearness, be endowed with our qualities;

And resemble us in nearness with attributes

you will attain your desire from us, however it has arisen from you.

You will attain your wishes from us however flows from you

واستعمل الصبر فيما كنت تطلبه

واستعمل الصبر فيما كنت تطلبه

فإنما يبلغ الآمال من صبرا

فإنما يبلغ الآمال من صبرا

And exercise patience in what you have been seeking,

And use patience in what you were seeking

for only those who persevere attain their hopes.

For hopes are only attained through patience

واقصد إلهك لا تقصد سواه تفز

واقصد إلهك لا تقصد سواه تفز

ويذهب الله عنك السوء والضررا

ويذهب الله عنك السوء والضررا

And seek your God; seek none besides Him, and you will succeed,

And aim for your God, do not aim for other than Him, you will succeed

and God will remove evil and harm from you.

And God will remove from you evil and harm

إياك إياك لا تشرك به أحداً

إياك إياك لا تشرك به أحداً

مما سمعت وما عيناك فيه ترى

مما سمعت وما عيناك فيه ترى

Beware, beware: do not associate anyone with Him,

Beware, beware, do not associate anyone with Him

among what you have heard of and what your eyes behold.

From what you have heard and what your eyes see in it

فإنه واحد فرد تنزه عن

فإنه واحد فرد تنزه عن

كل الحوادث بل لا يشبه الصورا

كل الحوادث بل لا يشبه الصورا

For He is One, unique, exalted above

For He is One, Unique, Transcendent from

all created things; nay, He resembles no forms.

All events, rather, He does not resemble forms

وقد تكفل بالأرزاق من أزل

وقد تكفل بالأرزاق من أزل

لا الأغنيا هو ينساهم ولا الفُقرا

لا الأغنيا هو ينساهم ولا الفُقرا

And He has guaranteed sustenance from all eternity;

And He has undertaken provisions from eternity

He forgets neither the rich nor the poor.

Not forgetting the rich, nor the poor

غيب عن العقل حق والسوى عدم

غيب عن العقل حق والسوى عدم

فحقق الأمر واترك كل ما خطرا

فحقق الأمر واترك كل ما خطرا

The Real is hidden from reason; all else is nothingness.

The truth is hidden from the mind, and parity is nonexistence

So ascertain the truth of the matter, and leave aside all that comes to mind.

So realize the matter, and leave all that occurred

واقنع به حيثما وليت معترفاً

واقنع به حيثما وليت معترفاً

بفضله فاز من للفضل قد شكرا

بفضله فاز من للفضل قد شكرا

And be content with Him wherever you turn, acknowledging

And be content with Him wherever you turned confessing

His bounty; whoever has given thanks for bounty has succeeded.

His bounty, for the grateful succeeded

ولا تكن يائساً منه وإن كثرت

ولا تكن يائساً منه وإن كثرت

منك الذنوب لعل الذنب قد غفرا

منك الذنوب لعل الذنب قد غفرا

And do not despair of Him, even if many

And do not despair of Him even if

are your sins; perhaps the sin has already been forgiven.

Your sins increased, perhaps the sin is forgiven

لا أنت تدري ولا يدري سواك وإن

لا أنت تدري ولا يدري سواك وإن

جل المقام فإن السر قد سترا

جل المقام فإن السر قد سترا

You do not know, nor does anyone else, even if

Neither you know, nor anyone else, and even if

the station is exalted, for the secret has been veiled.

The position is majestic, for the secret is concealed

واحذر من الأمن أيضاً فهو مهلكة

واحذر من الأمن أيضاً فهو مهلكة

والله يمكر فاحسب أنه مكرا

والله يمكر فاحسب أنه مكرا

And beware of feeling secure, too, for it leads to ruin.

And beware of security as well, for it is destructive

And God schemes, so reckon that He has schemed.

And God schemes, so consider that He has schemed

ثم استقم دائماً ترجو مواهبه

ثم استقم دائماً ترجو مواهبه

وتختشي منه تقضي عنده الوطرا

وتختشي منه تقضي عنده الوطرا

Then remain upright always, hoping for His gifts,

Then remain steadfast always, hoping for His gifts

and fearing Him; with Him you will attain your desire.

And fearing Him, to fulfill hopes in His presence
