جميع البرايا هي اليلمعُ

جميع البرايا هي اليلمعُ

وبرق الوجود بها يلمعُ

وبرق الوجود بها يلمعُ

All created beings are the mirage,

All creation gleams

and the lightning of existence flashes through them.

And the lightning of existence gleams within it

وما ذلك البرق غير الذي

وما ذلك البرق غير الذي

هو الأمر في لمحة مسرع

هو الأمر في لمحة مسرع

And that lightning is nothing other than that which

That lightning is none other than that which

is the command, swift as a glance.

In an instant brings the command to pass

به الأرض قامت كذا والسما

به الأرض قامت كذا والسما

فيخفض هذا وذا يرفع

فيخفض هذا وذا يرفع

By it the earth stands, and likewise the sky;

By it the earth arose, and the heavens too

so it lowers this and raises that.

This it abases, and that it raises high

وفي الغيب غيب الغيوب اختفت

وفي الغيب غيب الغيوب اختفت

على الكل شمس فلا تطلع

على الكل شمس فلا تطلع

And in the unseen—the unseen of unseen realms—lies hidden

And in the unseen, the unseen of all unseen withdrew

from all a sun, and so it does not rise.

Upon all a sun that does not rise

ونحن الخفافيش في نورها

ونحن الخفافيش في نورها

نقوم لها ولها نركع

نقوم لها ولها نركع

And we are bats in its light;

And we are the bats in its light

for it we stand, and to it we bow.

We stand for it and to it we bow

هي الذات ذات الوجود الذي

هي الذات ذات الوجود الذي

إذا ما تبدت لها نخشع

إذا ما تبدت لها نخشع

It is the Essence, the essence of existence, before which

we humble ourselves whenever it reveals itself.

When it manifests we are awed

ولم ندر منها سوى أمرها

ولم ندر منها سوى أمرها

ونحن على وجهها برقع

ونحن على وجهها برقع

And we have known nothing of it except its command;

And of it we know nothing but its command

and we are a veil upon its face.

And we are before its face veiled

إذا نحن متنا حيينا بها

إذا نحن متنا حيينا بها

وإن نحن غبنا فلا نرجع

وإن نحن غبنا فلا نرجع

When we die, we come to life through it;

When we die it gives us life

and if we vanish, we do not return.

And if we are absent we cannot return

وأعيننا مبصرات بها

وأعيننا مبصرات بها

إليها وآذاننا تسمع

إليها وآذاننا تسمع

And our eyes see through it,

And our eyes perceive it

looking toward it, and our ears hear.

To it they see, and our ears hear

ولا شيء نحن ولكن لها

ولا شيء نحن ولكن لها

نسبنا فنحن بها أجمع

نسبنا فنحن بها أجمع

And we are nothing, yet to it

And we are nothing, but to it

we are ascribed; thus through it we all exist.
