A beautiful one, through whom our lamp shone,

With it our lamp glowed bright

And from his knowledge came a supply of oil.

And it was the oil that fed

بنتنا له يده كعبة

بنتنا له يده كعبة

بها طفت سبعاً وفيها سعيت

بها طفت سبعاً وفيها سعيت

His hand built us as a Kaaba for him;

For it I built a Kaaba

Around it I circled seven times, and within it I performed the ritual running.

And circled it seven times in pilgrimage

فيا أمة العشق حجوا إلى

فيا أمة العشق حجوا إلى

فؤادي الذي هو للحب بيت

فؤادي الذي هو للحب بيت

So, O people of passionate love, make pilgrimage to

So O people of passion, make pilgrimage

My heart, which is a house for love.

To my heart, the home of love

نحرنا له أنفساً في منى

نحرنا له أنفساً في منى

هواه وجمْرات همّي رميت

هواه وجمْرات همّي رميت

We sacrificed souls for him in the Mina

For it we sacrificed our souls in Mina

Of his love, and I stoned the pillars of my anguish.

And cast the embers of my worries

سواي به ضل فيما اهتدى

سواي به ضل فيما اهتدى

وإني بما قد ضللت اهتديت

وإني بما قد ضللت اهتديت

Others went astray through him where they found guidance,

Apart from it the guided strayed

And I found guidance through that in which I had gone astray.

And I by its misguidance found guidance

هو الحرَمُ الأمْنُ للملتجي

هو الحرَمُ الأمْنُ للملتجي

ظهرت به حين فيه اختفيت

ظهرت به حين فيه اختفيت

He is the sacred sanctuary, safety for those seeking refuge;

It is the secure sanctuary for one who seeks refuge

Through him I appeared when in him I vanished.

With it I emerged when in it I disappeared
