ياO واصفيyou who describe me أنتyou فيin التحقيقtruth موصوفيthe one I describe
يا واصفي أنت في التحقيق موصوفي
وعارفيand you who know me لاdo not تغالطreason falsely أنتyou معروفيthe one I know
وعارفي لا تغالط أنت معروفي
O you who describe me, in truth you are the one I describe.
And you who know me, make no mistake: you are the one I know.
إنindeed الفتىthe youth منone who بعهدهْto his covenant فيin الأزلpre-eternity يوفيremains faithful
إن الفتى من بعهدهْ في الأزل يوفي
صافىoffered sincere friendship فصوفيand was sincerely befriended لهذاfor this reason سميَّwas called الصوفيthe Sufi
صافى فصوفي لهذا سميَّ الصوفي
Indeed, the youth is one who honors his covenant made in pre-eternity.
He offered sincere friendship and received it in return; hence he was called the Sufi.
