1. طلعة كلها جمال

    إن بدت تفتن الجيمع

    A vision, all beauty;

    if she appears, she enchants everyone.

  2. حال زال مال آلْ

    كل شيء إلى الفنا

    Changed, vanished, inclined, ended—

    everything—in annihilation.

  3. زان عشاقها الكمال

    يتهنَّى بها الخليع

    Perfection adorned her lovers;

    the libertine delights in her.

  4. طال صال عال غال

    للمسرات والهنا

    Towered, charged, rose high, assailed—

    for joys and bliss.

  5. نحن آيات وجهها

    ليس ندري بكنهها

    We are signs of her face;

    we do not know her true essence.

  6. صاح باح ساح طاح

    مَن إلى نحوها دنا

    Cried out, spoke openly, wandered, fell—

    whoever drew near to her.

  7. لا تحم حول شبهها

    من ترى ذاك يستطيع

    Do not circle around her likeness;

    who, do you think, can accomplish that?

  8. لاح راح فاح ناح

    طائر الشوق بالمنى

    Shone, departed, breathed fragrance, lamented—

    the bird of longing, with hopes.

  9. صل ربي على النبي

    أحمد المصطفى الهمام

    My Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet,

    Ahmad, the chosen one, the valiant.

  10. فاق راق ساق شاق

    مغرم القلب بالغرام

    Surpassed, charmed, led, stirred longing—

    in one whose heart is enamored of love.

  11. منه عبد الغني حُبِي

    رفعة الجاه والمقام

    From him, Abd al-Ghani was granted

    eminence of rank and station.

  12. حاق تاق لاق ذاق

    كلما غرد الحمام

    Encompassed, yearned, clung, tasted—

    whenever the doves sang.

  13. وعلى الآل والصحاب

    من حووا رفعة الجناب

    And upon the family and the companions,

    who attained exalted dignity.

  14. باه جاه شاه تاه

    كل من غيرهم أجاب

    Was bewildered, confronted, grew ugly, went astray—

    everyone who answered anyone but them.

  15. وذوي القرب والخطاب

    من غدا برقهم لميع

    And those endowed with nearness and discourse,

    whose lightning became radiant.

  16. ساه واه فاه لاه

    بسواهم من اعتنى

    Grew heedless, weakened, spoke, became distracted—

    whoever attended to anyone but them.
