    وإذا لم أنظر لها شرَّفتني

    A form: if I behold it, it burdens me;

and when I do not look at it, it honors me.

It has honored me with every command and prohibition:

what it has commanded me to do and what it has forbidden me.

So I am obedient, and not disobedient,

always thus, just as it created me.

By pure grace from it toward me, and protection

for me, it fashioned me without effort on its part.

And my return to my own form in my witnessing

is its loathing of me, through my burden and toil.

I can do nothing, and yet

through my claim to my own form, it has loathed me.

Be without a 'you,' if you desire repose,

and acceptance from it, to attain your wish.

    وتأمل وانقل حديثك عني

    And pause, but do not stop at anything;

and contemplate, and transmit your words from me.

O my being, and O being of creatures,

all of them—I do not say that you are I.

You are unique, truly real, not hidden,

and I am illusion, manifest through duality.

So forgive me for the wrong I committed in ignorance,

before I meet death—so forgive me.
