  1. نفخ روحٍ بالعز صار ذليلا

    دين رب مؤجل تأجيلا

    The breathing of a spirit that became humbled through might

    Is a debt to the Lord, deferred for a time.

  2. لترى الربح باتجارك فيه

    تفعل الخير بكرة وأصيلا

    So that you may see the profit from trading with it,

    You do good morning and evening.

  3. فبذات الدين الميسَّر فيما

    تشتهيه ونلت حظاً قليلا

    So with the very debt, made available, in what

    You desire—and you gained a little share.

  4. ثم حل الدين المؤجل حتى

    جاء يبغيه منك لا تمهيلا

    Then the deferred debt fell due, until

    He came seeking it from you, with no reprieve.
