طابwas sweet للسامعto the listener فيهin it النغمُthe melody
طاب للسامع فيه النغمُ
Many a connected one is the reed flute whose
A connected reed is he, who
melody is sweet to the listener.
The melody heard in him sounds sweet,
كادnearly منthe one who ينفخهblows into it ينفخbreathes فيinto
كاد من ينفخه ينفخ في
روحناour spirit روحاًa spirit ولاand not أحتشمI feel shame
روحنا روحاً ولا أحتشم
The one who blows it almost breathes into
He who blows it nearly breathes into
our spirit a spirit, and I feel no shame.
Our spirit a breath, and I am unashamed,
حيثsince معلومknown لناto us نافخهits blower
حيث معلوم لنا نافخه
منfrom وراbehind كلall الورىcreation منبهمhidden
من ورا كل الورى منبهم
For its blower is known to us,
Since we know the blower of it
hidden behind all creation.
Behind all of creation enthralled,
يوصلhe conveys القوتthe sustenance إلىto الروحthe spirit بهthrough it
يوصل القوت إلى الروح به
منby طريقway الأذْنthe ear فالأذْنso the ear فمa mouth
من طريق الأذْن فالأذْن فم
Through it he conveys sustenance to the spirit
It conveys nourishment to the soul through it
by way of the ear; so the ear is a mouth.
From the path of the ear, so the ear is a mouth.
