Nonbeing, encompassed by Being,

Beyond all existence, the Kindly One,

is the coloring of God, the All-Loving.

God's attribute colors all things.

صبغ العوالم كلها

صبغ العوالم كلها

بوجوده فهي الشهود

بوجوده فهي الشهود

He dyed all the worlds

His being gives existence its witness;

with His Being, so they are the witnesses.

He loves all creation and freely gives to it from Himself.

وهو المحب لها أما

وهو المحب لها أما

بالنفس منه لها يجود

بالنفس منه لها يجود

And He is their lover—does He not

It was nothing, but by Him became eminent.

bestow His own Self upon them?

By Him it was made white, though before it was black.

هي لم تكن شيئاً وقد

صارت به شيئاً يسود

صارت به شيئاً يسود

They were not anything, yet

The essence of existence surrounds all creatures, inexhaustibly,

through Him they became something that holds sway.

Though He is Absolute, from each nonexistent He accepts constraints,

وبدت به بيضاً وقد

وبدت به بيضاً وقد

كانت به من قبل سود

كانت به من قبل سود

And through Him they appeared white, though

And to Him bow all creatures, prostrating;

through Him they had been black before.

Through Him comes healing by destiny's decree and good fortune.

بالكائنات بلا نفود

Being itself encompasses

God is Greatest - these are but letters,

all beings, without exhaustion.

He is absolute, yet He has

Erasing and affirming forever in wisdom and munificence,

constraints from every nonexistent thing.

And the limits set for it. So trust in the Keepers of the Limits.

وله ركوع الكائنا

ت جميعها وله السجود

And to Him belongs the bowing of the beings—

all of them—and to Him belongs prostration.

وبه الشفاء لها على

حكم القضا وبه السعود

And through Him comes their healing, according to

destiny's decree; and through Him, good fortune.

God is greatest! These

are letters, and they have extensions.

كلماته قد خطها

كلماته قد خطها

في لوحه قلم الوجود

في لوحه قلم الوجود

His words have been inscribed

on His tablet by the pen of Being.

يمحو ويثبت دائماً

يمحو ويثبت دائماً

بالعلم من كرم وجود

بالعلم من كرم وجود

It erases and affirms continually

with knowledge, out of generosity and bounty.

وهي الحدود له فثق

وهي الحدود له فثق

بالحافظين على الحدود

بالحافظين على الحدود

And they are His bounds, so trust

those who keep watch over the bounds.
