1. قد أصبح قلبي في وهجِ

    ومدامع عيني كاللججِ

    My heart is now in a blaze,

    And the tears of my eye are like deep seas.

  2. ومعاني الشوق قد اتضحت

    بلسان ضنى الجسم اللهج

    And the meanings of longing have indeed become clear

    Through the ever-speaking tongue of the body's wasting.

  3. فعسى الألطاف تحف بنا

    ويلوح النور من السرج

    So may gracious favors surround us,

    And light shine forth from the lamps.

  4. ولعل الرحمة تدركنا

    من بعد الشدة بالفرج

    And perhaps mercy will reach us

    After hardship, bringing relief.

  5. ولعل علينا الله يجو

    د بشرح الصدر من الحرج

    And perhaps God will generously grant us

    An opening of the breast, freeing it from distress.

  6. والذنب يزول بمغفرة

    ويصير الهالك منه نجي

    And sin will vanish through forgiveness,

    And the doomed one will be saved from it.

  7. كرم المولى يحكي لججاً

    فاسبح في هاتيك اللجج

    The Lord's generosity resembles deep seas,

    So swim in those deep seas.

  8. وادخل بيت التوفيق ولا

    تصعد إلا في ذي الدرج

    And enter the house of divine guidance, and do not

    Ascend except on these steps.

  9. واعرفه به واعبده له

    واسجد إن أسفر وابتهج

    And know Him through Him, and worship Him for His sake.

    And prostrate if He shines forth, and rejoice.

  10. واسكر من خمرة طلعته

    وانظر نور الوجه البهج

    And become drunk on the wine of His countenance,

    And behold the light of the radiant face.

  11. واترك عنك الأكوان بلا

    ترك واسلك في ذا النهج

    And cast the created worlds away from you, without

    Abandonment, and walk along this path.

  12. مت واغسل عنك الغير وفي

    أكفان الصفوة فاندرج

    Die, and wash otherness from yourself, and in

    The shrouds of the elect, enfold yourself.

  13. يا خمرة عين الحق لنا

    برضاب الحضرة فامتزجي

    O wine of the essence of the Real, for us

    Mingle with the sweet saliva of the Presence.

  14. واذهب يا كأس فإنك من

    وهم تمضي طورا وتجي

    And depart, O cup, for you are of

    Illusion: at times you pass away and return.

  15. ما ثم سوى الأحكام فلا

    تمدح شيأ فالشيء هجي

    There is nothing there but judgments, so do not

    Praise anything, for a thing is blameworthy.

  16. ذات كالروض ونحن بها

    من زهر الوصف شذا الأرج

    The Essence is like a garden, and we within it

    Are the fragrant scent from the blossoms of attributes.

  17. يا صاحب هذا المشرب قف

    أنت المقدام لدى الرهج

    O companion of this drinking-place, stand firm.

    You are the intrepid one amid the battle-dust.

  18. جل بين صفوفك مفتخراً

    واسق الأسياف من المهج

    Range proudly among your ranks,

    And give the swords a drink of lifeblood.

  19. والكل سواك بغير هدى

    إن شئت فسر أوشئت عج

    And all besides you are without guidance.

    If you wish, proceed; or, if you wish, turn aside.

  20. لا تطلب غيرك إنك أن

    ت مناك فَحُلْ عن ذا العوج

    Do not seek other than yourself, for you are

    Your own desire; turn away from this crookedness.

  21. هذا نصحي فاقبله وكن

    للجاهل حبلاً في ودج

    This is my counsel; accept it, and be

    For the ignorant, a cord in a jugular vein.

  22. أو كن للكل رياض هدى

    أو حسناً في الخد الضرج

    Or be for all gardens of guidance,

    Or beauty in the crimson cheek.

  23. واشكر مولاك كما أولا

    ك به واترك قول الهمج

    And thank your Lord as He has favored

    You with it, and leave the rabble's talk.

  24. وصلاة الله بلا أمدٍ

    وسلام الله مدى الحجج

    And God's blessings, without end,

    And God's peace throughout the years,

  25. وتحية رب الخلق على

    طه منجينا من وهج

    And the greeting of the Lord of creation upon

    Ta-Ha, our deliverer from blazing heat,

  26. وعلى الآل الأطهار له

    وعلى الأصحاب أولى البلج

    And upon his pure family,

    And upon the companions, possessors of radiance,

  27. ما أسفر ضوء الصبح وما

    ولَّى ليلٌ في الدهر دَجِي

    As long as dawn's light shines forth, and as long as

    A dark night passes away in the course of time.
