1. ثلاث عليها يدورْ

    وجود وحق ونورْ

    Three things around which it revolves:

    Existence, Truth, and Light.

  2. وطوراً نرى هكذا

    نجوم شموس بدور

    And at times we see thus:

    Stars, suns, full moons.

  3. هي الروح مثل الرحى

    وأجسامنا كالقدور

    It is the spirit, like a millstone,

    and our bodies are like cooking pots.

  4. وما ثم غير الذي

    له الأمر وهو الأمور

    And there is none there but the One

    to whom command belongs, and who is all affairs.

  5. كثير بنا واحد

    به ذو انتقام غفور

    Manifold through us, one

    through Him—possessor of vengeance, all-forgiving.

  6. تجلى فقلنا هدى

    تحجب قلنا غرور

    He manifested Himself, and we said, “Guidance”;

    He veiled Himself, and we said, “Delusion.”

  7. ويتلو علينا وهل

    يجازي إلا الكفور

    And He recites to us: “And does He

    requite any but the ungrateful?”

  8. على ما عليه كأن

    ن ما غيرته الدهور

    As He is, as though

    the ages had not changed Him.

  9. ألا والظهور البطون

    ألا والبطون الظهور

    Behold, manifestation is concealment;

    behold, concealment is manifestation.

  10. شكرناه حتى لقد

    تسمى لنا بالشكور

    We thanked Him until, indeed,

    He named Himself for us “the All-Thankful.”

  11. وأيضا صبرنا به

    فجاء بإسم الصبور

    And also we were patient through Him,

    so He came with the name “the All-Patient.”

  12. ولم تعمَ إلا القلو

    ب عنه التي في الصدور

    And only the hearts have gone blind

    to Him—those within the breasts.

  13. وتالله ما أنكرت

    ه إلا خفافيشُ عور

    And by God, none have denied

    Him but one-eyed bats.
