إن مولانا كريم

يعتني بالمتقينا

يعتني بالمتقينا

Truly, our Master is generous;

Our Master is generous

He cares for the God-fearing.

He cares for the pious among us

وله سر مقيم

وله سر مقيم

في قلوب العارفينا

في قلوب العارفينا

And His is an abiding secret

And He has an eternal secret

in the hearts of those who know Him.

In the hearts of the gnostics

أسعد البكري سليمٌ

أسعد البكري سليمٌ

صدره زاد يقينا

صدره زاد يقينا

Asʿad al-Bakri is pure-hearted;

Asa'd al-Bakri is safe and sound

his breast has grown in certainty.

His chest increased in certainty

قال والقول نظيمٌ

قال والقول نظيمٌ

عندما صار أمينا

عندما صار أمينا

He said—and the saying is finely composed—

He spoke and his words are beautiful

when he became a trusted one:

When he became faithful

ولنا سر عظيم

ولنا سر عظيم

عند رب العالمينا

عند رب العالمينا

And we have a mighty secret

And we have a great secret

with the Lord of the worlds.

نسل صديق النبي

نسل صديق النبي

وابن خير الخلق طه

وابن خير الخلق طه

Descendant of the Prophet's Siddiq,

The lineage of the Prophet's friend

and son of the best of creation, Taha,

And the son of the best of creation

فاز بالقدر العلي

فاز بالقدر العلي

وحوى عزاً وجاها

وحوى عزاً وجاها

he attained exalted rank

He won the high decree

and gained honor and standing.

And embraced glory and stature

قال قولاً بالتهيي

قال قولاً بالتهيي

للمقامات انتباها

للمقامات انتباها

He spoke a word in readiness,

He spoke words of praise

attentive to the spiritual stations,

To the spiritual states, paying heed

حيث وافاه نسيمٌ

حيث وافاه نسيمٌ

من جناب الأولينا

من جناب الأولينا

when a breeze came to him

Where the gentle breeze reached him

from the presence of those who came before.

From the side of the first ones

ولنا سر عظيمٌ

ولنا سر عظيمٌ

عند رب العالمينا

عند رب العالمينا

And we have a mighty secret

And we have a great secret

with the Lord of the worlds.

With the Lord of the worlds

إن لله عطايا

إن لله عطايا

لا بسعي واكتساب

لا بسعي واكتساب

Truly, God has gifts,

Indeed God has gifts

not won through striving or earning.

Not by effort and earning

تمنح العبد مزايا

تمنح العبد مزايا

ليس تحصى بحساب

ليس تحصى بحساب

They grant the servant distinctions

That give the servant virtues

that no reckoning can count—

That cannot be counted

باهرات للبرايا

باهرات للبرايا

فاتحات خير باب

فاتحات خير باب

dazzling to all creation,

Dazzling to all creation

opening the finest door.

Opening the door of goodness

وصراط مستقيمٌ

وصراط مستقيمٌ

قول بكريٍّ أعينا

قول بكريٍّ أعينا

And a straight path

And a straight path

is a Bakri's saying: 'We were aided' (reading uncertain).

Said Bakri, heed us!

ولنا سرٌّ عظيمٌ

ولنا سرٌّ عظيمٌ

عند رب العالمينا

عند رب العالمينا

And we have a mighty secret

And we have a great secret

with the Lord of the worlds.

The noble branch returned

The noble branch returned

to firmly established roots,

To firm roots

وبدا القدرُ المنيف

وبدا القدرُ المنيف

في رفيع الدرجاتِ

في رفيع الدرجاتِ

and the lofty rank became manifest

And the graceful decree appeared

among the lofty degrees.

In the highest ranks

وتلا فاه اللطيف

وتلا فاه اللطيف

فهو للفيض مواتي

فهو للفيض مواتي

And his gentle mouth recited;

And the Subtle One recited

so he is receptive to the outpouring.

For He is the Giver of bounty

وهو للحق نديمٌ

وهو للحق نديمٌ

حصَّل الفتحَ المبينا

حصَّل الفتحَ المبينا

And he is an intimate companion of the Truth;

And He is the companion of Truth

he attained the manifest opening.

Who attained the clear opening

ولنا سر عظيمٌ

ولنا سر عظيمٌ

عند رب العالمينا

عند رب العالمينا

And we have a mighty secret

And we have a great secret

with the Lord of the worlds.

With the Lord of the worlds

ومن الله صلاتي

ومن الله صلاتي

وسلامي كل ساعَهْ

وسلامي كل ساعَهْ

And from God, my blessings

And from God are my prayers

and my greetings of peace at every hour,

And peace every moment

لنبي المكرماتِ

لنبي المكرماتِ

فاق فضلاً وبراعَهْ

فاق فضلاً وبراعَهْ

upon the Prophet of noble deeds,

For the Prophet of virtues

who excelled in merit and brilliance,

Supreme in grace and skill

ما تهنّى بالهباتِ

ما تهنّى بالهباتِ

من نحا نحو الجماعَهْ

من نحا نحو الجماعَهْ

as long as gifts bring joy

He is not pleased with gifts

to whoever turns toward the fellowship.

From those tending towards the group

قال والقول عميمٌ

قال والقول عميمٌ

مذ رقى شرعاً ودينا

مذ رقى شرعاً ودينا

He said—and the saying is all-embracing—

He spoke and his words are comprehensive

since he rose in sacred law and faith:

Since he ascended in law and religion

ولنا سر عظيمٌ

عند رب العالمينا

عند رب العالمينا

And we have a mighty secret

And we have a great secret

with the Lord of the worlds.
