I am the Qur'an, recited.

I am the Quran recited

I am the firm cord.

I am the strong rope

أنا عرش التجلي

أنا عرش التجلي

أنا الروح الأمين

أنا الروح الأمين

I am the throne of manifestation.

I am the throne of manifestation

I am the trustworthy Spirit.

I am the honest spirit

أنا الكرسي مني

أنا الكرسي مني

بدا السر الكمين

بدا السر الكمين

I am the Seat; from me

I am the hidden secret

the hidden secret appeared.

That started from me

أنا المحفوظ لوحي

أنا المحفوظ لوحي

أنا الحصن الحصين

أنا الحصن الحصين

I am the one whose tablet is preserved.

I am the protected tablet

I am the impregnable fortress.

I am the firm fortress

وما عندي تراب

وما عندي تراب

ولا ماء مهين

ولا ماء مهين

And I have no dust,

And I have no speck of dust

nor any lowly water,

Nor degrading water

سوى الأسرار عنها

سوى الأسرار عنها

أضاء لي الجبين

أضاء لي الجبين

only mysteries; through them

Except the mysteries about me

my brow shone bright.

That enlightened my forehead

وقلبي مستنير

وقلبي مستنير

وحقي مستبين

وحقي مستبين

And my heart is illumined,

And my heart is illuminated

and my truth is manifest.

And my truth is evident

فحوِّل عن طريقي

فحوِّل عن طريقي

وأمري يا لعين

وأمري يا لعين

So turn away from my path

So turn away from my path

and my affairs, O accursed one.

And my matter, O sinful eye

وإن أنكرت حالي

وإن أنكرت حالي

وكنت لي تشين

وكنت لي تشين

And if you deny my state

And if you deny my state

and have been disparaging me,

And dishonor me

فإنك في غرور

فإنك في غرور

وفي جهل يهين

وفي جهل يهين

then you are in delusion

Then you are in delusion

and in degrading ignorance.

And in abasing ignorance

وتعبد كل وقت

وتعبد كل وقت

هواك وتستعين

هواك وتستعين

And at every moment you worship

And you worship at every moment

your desire, and seek help.

Your desires and seek help through them

لك الدينار رب

لك الدينار رب

ومعبود معين

ومعبود معين

For you, the dinar is a lord

The gold coins are your lord

and a deity that gives aid.

And you have a specific idol

وبالأغيار تلهو

وبالأغيار تلهو

ويطغيك القرين

ويطغيك القرين

And you amuse yourself with others,

And you play with strangers

and the companion drives you to transgress.

And your companion makes you transgress

ولا عتب على من

ولا عتب على من

له دنياه دين

له دنياه دين

And there is no reproach for one

There is no blame upon one

whose worldly life is his religion

Who has made the world his religion

وفي الشهوات أضحى

وفي الشهوات أضحى

له قلب رهين

له قلب رهين

and who, amid desires, has come to have

And in lusts he became

a heart held captive.

One whose heart is hostage

ولا يدري شمال

ولا يدري شمال

بما حوت اليمين

بما حوت اليمين

And the left hand does not know

And he does not know what

what the right hand holds.
