نَصَرناwe aided رَسولَthe Messenger اللَهِof God مِنout of غَضَبٍanger لَهُon his behalf
نَصَرنا رَسولَ اللَهِ مِن غَضَبٍ لَهُ
بِأَلفِwith a thousand كَمِيٍّarmored warriors لاnot تُعَدُّare counted حَواسِرُهits bareheaded men
بِأَلفِ كَمِيٍّ لا تُعَدُّ حَواسِرُه
We aided the Messenger of God, out of anger on his behalf,
We supported Allah's Messenger against his enemies' wrath,
with a thousand armored warriors, their bareheaded men beyond counting.
With a thousand riders whose number cannot be counted.
حَمَلناwe carried لَهُfor him فيon عامِلِthe upper shaft of الرُّمحِthe spear رايَةًa banner
حَمَلنا لَهُ في عامِلِ الرُّمحِ رايَةً
يَذودُwards off بِهاwith it فيin حَومَةِthe thick of المَوتِdeath ناصِرُهhis champion
يَذودُ بِها في حَومَةِ المَوتِ ناصِرُه
We carried a banner for him on the spear's upper shaft;
We carried for him the standard's pole amidst the spears,
his champion wards off foes with it in the thick of death.
With it he charged through death's tumult aided by his supporters.
وَنَحنُand we خَضَبناهاwe dyed it دَماًwith blood فَهوَso it is لَونُهاits color
وَنَحنُ خَضَبناها دَماً فَهوَ لَونُها
غَداةَon the morning of حُنَينٍHunayn يَومَthe day صَفوانَSafwan شاجِرُهhis adversary
غَداةَ حُنَينٍ يَومَ صَفوانَ شاجِرُه
And we dyed it with blood, so that is its color,
We dyed it with blood, so blood became its color,
on Hunayn's morning, the day Safwan was his adversary.
The day after Hunayn when weapons clashed with Safwan.
وَكُنّاand we were عَلىin the cause of الإِسلامِIslam مَيمَنَةًa right wing لَهُfor him
وَكُنّا عَلى الإِسلامِ مَيمَنَةً لَهُ
وَكانَand was لَناours عَقدُthe tying of اللِواءِthe standard وَشاهِرُهand its unfurler
وَكانَ لَنا عَقدُ اللِواءِ وَشاهِرُه
And in Islam's cause we were his right wing,
We were the right wing of Islam reinforcing it,
and ours was the tying of the standard, and its unfurler was one of us.
And we held the standard’s tie-rope and raised it high.
وَكُنّاand we were لَهُfor him دونَapart from الجُنودِthe troops بِطانَةًan inner circle
وَكُنّا لَهُ دونَ الجُنودِ بِطانَةً
يُشاوِرُناhe consults us فيin أَمرِهِhis affairs وَنُشاوِرُهand we consult him
يُشاوِرُنا في أَمرِهِ وَنُشاوِرُه
And we were his inner circle, apart from the other troops;
We were his inner guard, consulting him in his affairs,
he consults us in his affairs, and we consult him.
As he consulted us concerning plans made for him.
دَعاناhe summoned us فَسَمّاناthen he named us الشِعارَthe rallying cry مُقَدَّماًforemost
دَعانا فَسَمّانا الشِعارَ مُقَدَّماً
وَكُنّاand we were لَهُfor him عَوناًa help عَلىagainst مَنwhoever يُناكِرُهopposes him
وَكُنّا لَهُ عَوناً عَلى مَن يُناكِرُه
He summoned us and named us the foremost rallying cry,
He called us forward and we were the first to fight,
and we were his help against whoever opposed him.
We supported him against those who opposed him.
جَزىmay reward اللَهُGod خَيراًwith goodness مِنas نَبِيٍّa prophet مُحَمَّداًMuhammad
جَزى اللَهُ خَيراً مِن نَبِيٍّ مُحَمَّداً
وَأَيَّدَهand may He strengthen him بِالنَصرِwith victory وَاللَهُand God ناصِرُهhis supporter
وَأَيَّدَه بِالنَصرِ وَاللَهُ ناصِرُه
May God reward Muhammad, a prophet, with goodness,
May Allah reward with goodness Muhammad His prophet,
and strengthen him with victory—and God is his supporter.
And support him with victory - for Allah is his supporter.
