القائِلونَ إِذا لَقوا أَقرانَهُم

القائِلونَ إِذا لَقوا أَقرانَهُم

إِنَّ المَنايا قَصدُ مَن لَم يُقتَلِ

إِنَّ المَنايا قَصدُ مَن لَم يُقتَلِ

Those who say, when they meet their equals,

When they meet their peers, they say:

“Indeed, death seeks whoever has not been slain.”

Death will take whoever is not killed.

فَيُعانِقوا الأَبطالَ في حَمسِ الوَغى

فَيُعانِقوا الأَبطالَ في حَمسِ الوَغى

تَحتَ الأَسِنِّةِ وَالقَتامُ الأَطحَلِ

تَحتَ الأَسِنِّةِ وَالقَتامُ الأَطحَلِ

So they embrace the champions in the fury of battle,

So they embrace the heroes in battle's fury,

Beneath the spearheads and the dark-gray dust.

Beneath the spears and dark steel blades.
