I have readied Ṣawbah and al-Ṣamūt and a supple spear,
I prepared a riding camel, silent and docile,
and an ample coat of mail for battle's terror, like fine white cloth.
And an easy mount for fear like a lizard.

She outstrips the reins, as though her bridler
Her reins are slack as if her bridle
were at the crown of a towering palm.
Were on the head of a palm tree.

Between al-Ḥimālah and al-Qurayẓ—indeed,
Begotten between a she-camel and a stallion,
you were nobly bred, from dam and from sire.
She was born of a mare and a sire.

No following horse hopes to catch up with her
No pursuer hopes to catch up with her
ever; nor does the front-runner outstrip her.
One day, and no faster camel can outpace her.
