أَكُلَيبُO Kulayb مالَكَwhat ails you كُلَّevery يَومٍday ظالِماًacting unjustly
وَالظُلمُand injustice أَنكَدُill-starred وَجهُهُits face مَلعونُaccursed
O Kulayb, why are you unjust every day?
Every day, dog of Malik, you act unjustly
And injustice is ill-starred, its face accursed.
And injustice has soured your cursed face
قَدindeed كانَused to قَومُكَyour people يَحسَبونَكَconsider you سَيِّداًa chief
وَإِخالُand I think أَنَّكَthat you سَيِّدٌa chief مَعيُونُafflicted by the evil eye
Your people used to think you a chief,
Your people thought you were a master
and I think you are a chief afflicted by the evil eye.
While I knew you were an accursed puppet
فَإِذاso when رَجَعتَyou return إِلىto نِسائِكَyour wives فَاِدَّهِنthen oil yourself
إِنَّindeed المُسالِمَthe peaceable man رَأسُهُhis head مَدهونُoiled
So when you return to your wives, oil yourself;
So when you return to your women excite them
for the peaceable man's head is oiled.
For the Muslim's head is lowered
وَاِفعَلand do بِقَومِكَto your people ماwhat أَرادَhe intended بِوائِلٍfor Wa'il
يَومَon the day of الغَديرِthe pool سَمِيُّكَyour namesake المَطعونُthe stabbed one
And do to your people what was intended for Wa'il
And do unto your people what your Samiyya intended
on the day of the pool by your stabbed namesake.
On the day of Ghadeer to the stabbed one
وَإِخالُand I think أَنَّكَthat you سَوفَwill تَلقىencounter مِثلَهاits like
فيin صَفحَتَيكَyour two flanks سِنانُهاits spearpoint المَسنونُsharpened
And I think you will meet with its like:
And I reckon you will receive the like of it
its sharpened spearpoint in your two flanks.
On your cheeks, its fangs ready to bite
إِنَّindeed القُرَيَّةَal-Qurayya قَدalready تَبَيَّنَhas become clear أَمرُهاits affair
إِنif كانَis يَنفَعُis useful عِندَكَto you التَّبيينُclarification
Indeed, the matter of al-Qurayya has become clear,
The matter of the village has become clear
if clarification is of any use to you,
If clarification is of any use to you
حَيثُwhere اِنطلَقتَyou set out تَخُطُّهاyou mark it out ليfor me ظالِماًacting unjustly
وَأَبوand Abu (father of) يَزيدَYazid بِجَوِّهاin its midst مَدفونُburied
where you set out to mark it out for me unjustly,
Since you set out to raid it unjustly
while Abu Yazid lies buried in its midst.
While Abu Yazeed lies buried within it
