1. Why do you not answer though I call repeatedly?
Your silence is enough for forty days

2. Confusion has increased and truths are veiled
From us, and Muslims are left perplexed

3. They wonder, as intoxication has stripped them bare
What is troubling you, they are not drunkards

4. So show us the right way as you used to
Truly, and tear the veils without pause

5. It was not my habit when people came to you
At times of distress, that you hid away

6. Why do you seclude yourself in desolate times
With no institutions or homes?

7. The universe is too narrow for your hearing
So why do you make graves your abode?

8. Muslims need you the most
If you fulfill it, they have not fulfilled their duty

9. Who will fight for Ahmad’s law
And defend its sides from dangers?

10. And protect God's religion from the enemy's doubts
And repel the attack of those who resist it?

11. And defend the verses of the Book wisely
And make those who disbelieve in it taste defeat?

12. And provide its interpretation with wonders
And spread its hidden mysteries?

13. And purify Islam from what stained it
And remove the filth from its springs?

14. And remind scholars not to turn a blind eye
From what their time requires of them to see

15. And argue gently with the wicked so they
Do not stop until they become righteous

16. And renew the old Arabic though through negligence
Its people made it remnants

17. And restore eloquence to its former glory
And rebuild its collapsed rivers

18. And make the pulpits’ poles supple again
Not envying the poles and strings

19. And instill noble manners in people
And awaken the ignorant with his sermons

20. And urge the wealthy to moderation
Not extravagance or miserliness

21. And return the paralyzed givers among our ministers
To relieve the burdens of our poor

22. And fulfill the needs of those who ask of him
Without fatigue or arrogance

23. And teach people honesty, loyalty
Truthfulness, dedication and altruism

24. And keep striving for reform whenever
He finds the way to good reform

25. As if he had a covenant with the Most High
To reform morals and ideas

26. If among us there was a guide capable
Of this burden, we would pardon him

27. Or it's best our souls overflow with panic
And hasten to death's abode

28. The Imam died, so heavens sunder
A child lost, and seas steam

29. And crack open, o earth, and erupt
Suddenly, o Nile, and rain, o clouds, stones

30. And stop in your place, o planets, and darken
Eclipsed, and fall, o mountains, debris

31. And stir the sky's horizons with humming
O wind, and stir among us storms

32. No good remains after Muhammad if
The souls of his successors are small
