1. Do you spend time with me if my time comes
And I did not get it except after long suffering

2. And replace my effort in acquiring knowledge
And what I gained disappears with my demise

3. And it saddens me that I do not see a way for me
To give it to one who deserves my gift

4. If the wealthy bequeath their sons wealth
And status, how wretched are the wise men's sons
