1. Calamities do not bring us joy or lower us,
Nor does time oppose us or refine us.

2. Every season, politics shows
The different colors of its clothes to people.

3. Yet time is indifferent, grieving us
With its ups and downs, purifying us.

4. It makes us taste once the bitterness of its taste,
And another time gives us its cup of honey to drink.

5. Appearances dazzled us when we saw them,
And drew a flood of tears from our sufferings.

6. It was a spellbinding playground where our minds were captivated,
And so we saw in its mirrors our annihilation.

7. But the unknown has secrets veiled
From minds, even if revealed to us for a while.

8. After hardship, God creates ease,
And after despair, He clothes us in the gentleness of His bounty.

9. Things reach their purpose gradually,
And the month is completed on the thirtieth.

10. Praise be to God, our sights are now clear,
And the world turns to us with congratulations.

11. The matter is settled, and the means to success have appeared;
What bothered us is gone.

12. God has realized what we hoped for –
A helper for us, and safety from our enemies.

13. A ministry whose purpose is to bring us prosperity,
And build the highest of our buildings.

14. A council established to reform our land,
So we forget the past.

15. Let the messenger inform the members of parliament
That they have revived reform and religion through their efforts.

16. That they have planted in the hearts of the people
A firm love.

17. That they have immortalized a good memory,
A memory that competes with the best perfumes of our homes.

18. That they have paved difficult roads for us,
And established justice among the people.

19. That they have given us hope after our souls despaired
And our wishes abandoned us.

20. Today, let the critic look at our situation,
And ask to be excused for what he said about us.

21. Let him wake from his drunkenness and recognize our
Integrity, cleared of what he blamed us for.

22. Let him see guiding stars shining
In the orbit of the Supreme Council.

23. He will know we have not become accustomed
To work or trained for it directly.

24. By your Lord, he will be dazzled
Until he sees Egypt through his eyes as Berlin.

25. May God not return the bitter days we tasted,
Days when we suffered injustice and humiliation.

26. We were driven with the whip of injustice as our loved ones cried for us
And our children called to us.

27. Days when governors lived in prosperity
While the farmer lived in misery.

28. How often we complained of our darkness,
Yet never found a prince who would pity us,

29. Who would judge us according to his whims and dispute us
By saying he was bound by law.

30. If he saw it would help us
To violate laws, that would cure us!

31. We make requests and governors make requests, but government makes us sick
And the dinar heals us!

32. We thought them kings when given authority
But later found them to be our demons.

33. As if we were dumb tools, our toil bringing us
No more than oils to grease us.

34. Or a ball tossed around, with no fortune,
Only the stick of fate driving us.

35. Our crime is only that the East is our homeland,
And its fields are home to our families.

36. So let our homelands live! Let our nation live!
Let our Nile live, and live our Highness!

37. Long live our representatives and our council!
Long live the guardian of Egypt's honor, Arabi!

38. His free soldiers live! The cavalry live!
